There's also Naked Boys Singing.

If any private school forced 12 year-old boys to play female roles -- especially Hot Box routines for GUYS AND DOLLS -- there would be video evidence on YouTube. And probably a lawsuit or two. I'm with Blaxx on this one.

Its bigger BULLSH*T then my posts
I love how you all think this is a lie when honestly i was just asking an honest question that somehow is "bull****" and has been trolled. Why the hell would people be so rude into think what my school does is a joke? we don't have girls and therefore have to adapted the shows for us. Yes boys dressed up as girls for Les Mis but that s completely different from Chicago, they don't do slut dances, just have dresses and sing no big deal. The girls schools have to pretend to be males. Thats just what happens in Ireland. And also Chess was a lot bigger in Europe then it was in America. Also I never said it was a popular show just that it was called the greatest stage show performed by a school in the county that year. Thats down to the singing, acting and overall presentation of the show NOT how popular it is! Please if your not going to help F**K Off

"slut dances"?
" Please if your not going to help F**K Off"?
Saying "Please" does not negate the rudeness of " F**K Off", which is in any case against board rules. Already people here think you're a troll - you're not helping your case.

Could you not do a revue?
It will obviously mean no book scenes but there are quite a lot of nice, licensed revues that you can do...
RED HOT AND COLE
PUTTING IT TOGETHER
Etc
You can sort of do what you like with the numbers then
With a few Merkins you can do Oh! Calcutta!, a blast from the past!
"What's with all the trolling lately? If I want to become a troll, I'd make sure at least my post made some sense."

So you're telling me this is for real?? That you have little boys put on dresses and play the female parts?! Okay. I need video or photo proof. This is too ridiculous.

If there's an all-girls school nearby why not do a co-production with them? Combine your resources?
I also question how "not a lot of people are into musicals" and yet you had 60 or 70 people in Chess? In what world is over 25% of the school being involved "not a lot of people"?
As someone with Irish ancestry, I can vouch for Carl O'Dowd's (as I assume his name might be) veracity.
I speak for my people when I admit that:
A) the Irish can't spell to save their lives,
B) the Irish rarely make any sense,
C) the Irish love to resort to foul language when challenged.
carlodowd has fulfilled the standard "Are you for real, Irishman?" test in this thread.
^HA!
I also have British friends, male and female, who went to single-sex schools and played whatever part, male or female.
But that just brings us back to what question is actually being asked? Since the OP seems to have a large group of people to draw from, and gender doesn't matter, why not do any musical that pops into your head?
If the Original Troll would have put more effort in his trolling, he wouldn't have said they had put on musicals that involve people kissing, singing love songs to each other and stripping cabaret acts.
He must be having a blast with the naive, however. Now I know why so many trolls around here, there are just as many feeders.
I think it's all for fun, blaxx - none of this is significant enough to care that much about. It's a freaking chat board, not a real life.
A lead male in the center - not too many supporting parts - and potentially large chorus:
Sounds like Nine or Stop The World... to me.
Jesus, this thread. At least it's funny.
My two cents:
Annie
I agree. The original post and the original poster's follow ups read like fiction. But then I ask myself why someone would take time to make something like this up and post a fictional thread? Unless they are a complete raving lunatic? That's probably the case, but if not, I would urge the original poster to give us the name of this wild and crazy school with 200 students that produced the best production in the county, so we can all plan a road trip to see your next show!

I went to an all-boys school and even my conservative school brought in the girls from the nearby all-girls school for productions.
If not, they can do Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake
Can I just say how rude you're all being. I asked an honest question to people i taught would understand the problem and help me. But all i've been subjected to is abuse and been called a "Troll". All I wanted was help, not abuse. Last time I'll be asking for help on this board.

I would love to do Newsies or Jersey Boys but the rights aren't out
I would love to do Jersey boys, but I don't feel like heading up there anytime soon. So, the local boys have got to do
(and they do)
