I know this is wishful thinking, but I would love to see all of the shows that opened this season perform in some capacity, even if it's just for a minute or two in a medley. I would much rather the focus be on shows that opened this year instead of long running shows such as Wicked, but I realize that it isn't the way the producers think.

At the very least, I hope Kelli gets to perform (it would be icing on the cake if she did a song with Steven).

Cmon guys really? Why all the surprise that Bridges isn't performing? Its barely nominated. It closed prematurely, but if the producers didn't have faith to keep it running through Tony season, obviously they aren't going to pay to have a performance at the Tonys. Sting is performing because the show is going to Broadway and its great press for the show.
If/Then while not nominated either, having Idina Menzel is ratings gold for the Tonys as well as great PR for the show, the producers of the Tonys and If/Then WANT her to perform.

If i recall correctly, the shows have to put up the money for their own sets and such, so the Bridges producers would have had to raise even more money to participate in the Tonys (assuming they were invited, of course). That said, there is easy access to a Bridges set they could have used.

While the article title says "will perform", the article's author distinctly phrases WICKED's participation as "a return to Radio City Music Hall to celebrate". I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there was no performance and just an intro. spot.

I know all of those celebrities "will make appearances", I suppose as presenters. I rather liked the Broadway characters presenting last year. Guess that's not returning.

If they do that, her fans minds will explode - mine included lol. If Wicked is PERFORMING, it'd be nice for her to introduce it. I don't think they'd have her sing twice. (Though she'd have to agree to performing and I don't know that she would.)

Then again, the Tonys are billing her as FROZEN'S IDINA MENZEL so who the f*ck know what they'll do for ratings.

There is no way the castmemebers introducing other shows was cool, maybe once but it was just tired, stale and didn't really work. I agree with HorseTears.

What song do you think Idina will do from If/Then? Always Starting Over is such a ball buster for her to sing, but hey if she does it 8 shows a week already, what's one more? There plot points revealed though. I'm gonna guess Here I Go or You Learn To Live Without, but both kinda snoozy.

Interesting how the idea of non-nominated shows performing has now been absorbed by so many, it barely warrants a discussion. I still find it strange, as it's changed the metric of how shows won the slot to perform.

Which raises the inevitable question: why should it be nominees and now arbitrarily-chosen hits get to perform and how long before a producer who feels shut out makes noise?

Actually it has 4 nominations, for Kelli O'Hara, Jason Robert Brown's score, Jason Robert Brown's orchestrations, and Donald Holder's gorgeous lighting.

I know fairness doesn't come into it, and I realize it's a question of expenses BRIDGES' producers would incur, but decency would dictate that each nominated SCORE was represented by a performance at the awards show. For all I care, Kelli could sing "To Build a Home" a cappella on an empty stage so the viewing audience would have some stake in who wins those awards. (How ironic it would be if Jason won either award regardless of this lapse.)
