I think it would be foolish of the If/Then producers to have Idina perform anything other than "Always Starting Over". It's a show-stealer, & given the fact they they received so few nominations with little chance of winning, they better steal the show to sell tix.
And of course is love to see Idina involved in the Wicked celebration. Will Chenoweth be there? Just out the two of them on stage at the same time & the whole fan base will explode.

I love it.
If the producers of the Tony Awards, indeed, if people the world over fail to bow and scrape before this dreary dirge of a score, if they don't realize that this should be the paramount concern of the Tony Awards and the theatre community in general, why, then it's unfair and indecent. Unfair and indecent!
Why not just put on the cd every time someone else performs on the awards? Then all will be the way it should be in the cockeyed universe of this show's devotees.

Agreed on 'Always Starting Over', I hope they edit the content and go for it. Without Travolta introducing her, maybe she'll nail it.

Well we all know Idina's track record for nailing or not nailing a song at a big moment. (Oscars 2014, Tonys 2004) Anyway I'm sure she'll be in fine form either way. I actually enjoy the raspiness and cracks that happen (but on only occasion)it gives a nice texture to the songs she sings, unlike so many other flawless sopranos that we have to hear so very often. #NoShade

Not a doubt in my mind Idina will sing "Alway Starting Over." It's the song that would actually entice people to see the show. In addition, she's already performed most of the other worthwhile songs on the talk show circuit. Can't wait, she'll sound so great (nerves permitting that is).

If/Then is getting to perform because of Adele Dazeem, I mean Idina Menzel. And she's been billed in most of the press as Frozen's Idina Menzel. I knew the weren't going to pass up a slot for her.

I'm quite sad about BRIDGES closing also, but lets not degrade another show because it failed to sell tickets (which I'm still gonna blame on poor marketing and timing.)
Also, WICKED is celebrating 10 Years on Broadway, I think they can fit a small number in to celebrate that...especially since their "celebration" for Tenth Anniversary kind of sucked.

I tremendously dislike when older shows come back to perform. For me, it takes away from the celebration of that year's work.

I understand that point of view. But I kind of disagree. Yes, the Tony Awards are meant to celebrate this years new crop of shows. But it is also a celebration of Broadway in general. When a show reaches a milestone (especially one like a Tenth Anniversary), I think some accolades are in order. Of course WICKED doesn't need the press, but it certainly does not hurt anything by them performing a short number. If this was a very crowded year and WICKED took up a lot of airing time and pushed shows that are still running out of a time slot, I would be pissed. But I don't think this is such a year.

I have mixed thoughts on having a long-running show perform, but like fingerlakessinger said it's not going to push new shows that are still running from this season out.
At least it's not a cruise ship production like in 2012.

If the Bridges producers were able to get the money together they would perform, ala Leap of Faith. The show closed and was nominated for Best Musical and the producers were able to get enough money together to have them perform on the telecast. As far as it being "fair" that they don't get to perform while being nominated for multiple awards, there's no reason to say that because I'm sure the people behind the Tonys would LOVE for Bridges to perform, but there's a cost for that like all the other shows have to pay.

Yeah, show business will never be fair. I would have loved Big Fish to perform, since any of those dance numbers would be wonderful at the Tonys, but... that wouldn't no make sense since it wasn't nominated for ANYTHING and has been forgotten.
Bridges should perform just so people can understand the beauty that they missed.

I highly doubt it. The 10th anniversary theme seems to be to recreate the original tony performance.
