Anyone going tonight? Curious to hear how she does. If she's any good, I assume the Weisslers will try to swoop her up for Mama Morton.
I don't watch the Housewives shows, but I was pleasantly surprised at Nene Leakes' sharp comedic timing in that short lived NBC sitcom she was on. The show was pretty lousy, but I thought she handled herself well. And, lljay, yeah if she' does well here, I imagine you're right about Chicago. Her wanting to be a replacement in a show that's been around since the Clinton administration may be a different thing, though.
She couldn't be worst than Wendy Williams.
A corpse couldn't be worse than Wendy Williams.
The casting on Broadway has sunk to a new low now that they let the likes of Nene Leakes grace a Broadway stage. Ugh!
^ If she has talent and does the role justice, who gives a crap what their background is?
Everyone in the cast seems to love her. She seems truly humbled to be there.
And she was an actress in regional theatre way before Housewives, so she might be good.
I'll be there tonight. I've never watched Atlanta, but I enjoyed her in The New Normal. She was usually the best part of the show actually.
In addition to The New Normal, I thought she was great on Glee as well. Also she looks fabulous in costume.
Josh Kaufman and Carly Rae Jepsen, performers who won or placed highly in actual talent competitions were absolutely crucified on here before they even sung a note or said a word on stage yet people are saying about Nene Leakes, a Real Housewife, whose main claim to fame is that she can scream the loudest, act the bitchiest and dish more dirt than 5 other reality show morons things like well, she was an actress in regional theater a long time ago and if she has talent, who cares what her background is. That is freaking rich. Carlos Alberto as usual, summed it up perfectly.

I think she's gonna be good! And she's actually gonna act too because she said she wasn't gonna play the character urban which shows that she's following the script :)
"And she's actually gonna act too"
An actress on Broadway who is actually gonna act??? AND even follow the script??? For realz??? Whoa! Wonder if they had to pay her extra for, you know... actually acting?
in regards to Josh Kaufman and Carly Rae Jepsen- those complaints were justified when they did actually perform- At least in part.
Bob, in general, I detest this type of casting as well. But I think Leakes may be an exception here. As others have pointed out, yes, her claim to fame is her stupid reality show, but she has an acting background and was a comic standout on an NBC sitcom. Not a great sitcom, but she was quite good on it. She's not totally green here. I can actually imagine her doing quite well in this role. We'll see.

By almost all objective accounts, they did and are doing just fine. The specific people on here like yourself who didn't like them being cast and were rooting for them to fail of course found things to be critical of as they tried to hide their disappointment that they actually did a decent job in the role.

Get your facts straight- in regards to Carly, i reserved judgment till i saw her. i wasn't rooting for her to fail- but she did anyway. doing a job Fine is hardly a compliment...
and i haven't heard many people say that Josh made a great Pippin, just okay- like people predicted.

I hope Nene does well! It's such an honor to be on Broadway and she really has come a long way since season 1 of RHOA. I think she can act and I thought she was great on The New Normal. Also, no shade to her, but Madame is a perfect role for her. People think she is evil on RHOA anyway. Haha.

Yeah, that's exactly what everyone was saying in the thread that discussed his selection. "He may not be great, but I'm sure he'll do OK".
^ Exactly, so how were those people wrong? you were acting like those who knocked both of them were wrong i some way, even though they were right in their claims.

ROFLLLL....I love you Bob.
And going back a bit further in history (though not that much further), Laura Osnes was also crucified by many here for being nothing other than a reality show winner before she actually, uh, performed on a Broadway stage to almost universal acclaim.
Excuse me but a HUGE eye roll is in order right about now > >
