"It was just a performance of the song. It is not like they have rehearsed the show and it is up and running. I was there when they sang it. It was ok but I am sure it will be better."
I agree and I'm sure it will be fine, but as an actor you normally begin thinking about your character before your first time in rehearsal. You can bring something more to the table than that. But like you said, I'm sure it's going to be just fine when it goes up.

Claire's without a doubt one of my favorite elements in the show. "See Me" seguing into "Warning" is one of the moments in musical theatre that has haunted me since the first time I heard it.
Very disappointed in this decision and in the poster.

I'd really like to hear the reason they cut Claire and her song,
It's time to demand answers from Stafford, my friend, and why is Nadia a hot chick now?
We could picket with pictures of Caitlin and Natalie Joy (who is a hot chick now).

Posted: 9/14/12 at 1:36amI've seen her recently at an audition and while she has slimmed down quite a bit I think Natalie Joy would still have trouble getting work as a "hot chick."

Posted: 9/14/12 at 2:24amI honestly did not intend any meanness in there, just being honest. Natalie was born a character actress, she will die a character actress (and I think she has fully embraced that and has no designs to try to challenge that perception).

You're absolutely right,
but she has come a long way since BARE.
The right role will come along for her talent.
And her character is what made Nadia so heart breaking.
Guess they just want hotness now.

Posted: 9/14/12 at 8:56amThis is exactly what Stafford did with Carrie. Along with that musical's creative team, he decided that it needed to be a "timely" story about "issues" facing "real kids," like "bullying." From that moment, it became a PSA. But this hilariously bland approach became even worse when he CAST ONLY CONVENTIONALLY ATTRACTIVE TWENTY-SOMETHING MUSICAL THEATRE BLANDIES AS THE PRINCIPAL TEENAGERS. A little ironic, maybe?

Posted: 9/14/12 at 10:47amPlain Jane Fat Ass was cut from the 2004 production so I wouldn't have expected it to be put back in. With Nadia not being fat, is "A Quiet Night At Home" (another of the best songs in the show, imho) being cut or has it been rewritten to remove the fat references?

I think that this new production is shaping up to be a travesty. I was looking forward to BARE finally getting it's chance, but I'm sure it will fall flat like 99% of the notes on the Broadway on Broadway video. If the cast wasn't ready or rehearsed enough to perform well, they shouldn't have attended. That is no way to sell your show to an audience.
I've been against cutting Claire from the first time I heard it mentioned. The only changes, I could have understood being made to the adult cast would be to change up the Sister some. I like her sass and what not, but I could see how that may have to be "fixed." Omitting Claire omits some of the most POWERFUL and POIGNANT messages in the show, which is all about the struggle of identity for EVERYONE. Apparently, we missed that when we decided to make Nadia thin.
The thing that irritates me the most is that I can't listen to my 2004 sampler CD or concept cast album anymore without getting upset at the changes made. It's like this new version has completely tainted the entire show for me.

Posted: 9/16/12 at 9:16pmI have high expectations about this, but that Broadway on Broadway performance I saw was very disappointing. Hopefully with more rehearsal time, the performances will improve greatly. They didn't appear to be ready yet....

At least they've kept in Rolling for some inexplicable reason...

Ugh, that music now sounds so dated (please don't leave in any rave references).
And that ad, maybe it's just me, makes me think of a less cleverly edited version of the original UK Skins opening sequences (maybe the American remake as well, but I never bothered to watch that). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQiVFBy9Oz0 I guess it makes some sense to go for something similar, but...

I have a hard time thinking that people would be wondering why they didn't perform with how this production has been looking prior to Broadway on Broadway. It looks weird. I think we all just need to see it and hope there's a good reason behind these questionable changes. I sure hope it's absolutely fantastic so we can finally be able to reference changes we didn't like but actually were for the best.
