re: New Elphaba?

"This person has been on Broadway once previously, but their career has mostly been in television."

Oh God, is Whoppi going to be Elphaba? AHHHHH (runs and hides) lol

re: New Elphaba?

Oh I hope it's not Kimberly. I heard her sing before and her voice is nowhere strong enough to be Elphaba. That was back when she was just a kid though.

If it's Ashley Tisdale, I'm going to disembowel myself with a grapefruit spoon.

This thread makes me want to watch Quints.

re: New Elphaba?

It couldn't be Kimberly. She's been in 5 shows on Broadway.

IBDB only lists 2 & 1 more on her IMDB page.

re: New Elphaba?

When I said the person has been on Broadway once before, I meant exactly that.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

re: New Elphaba?

Meaning that they've only performed in one performance on Broadway before or just one show?

re: New Elphaba?

CMoore, that's exactly what I was thinking.

re: New Elphaba?

Somethingwicked, any other clues?
I'm actually pretty excited about the idea of an entirely new Elphaba, I hate this recycling business.

KATIE COURIC!!! Opposite Sarah Palin's Glinda (Who now insists all of Glinda's costumes now be camo).

re: New Elphaba?

She's only been on Broadway once, in Hairspray, right? I personally think she could probably rock the songs, don't know about the acting, never seen her do that.

re: New Elphaba?

Yeah, that's her only show on Broadway show; she also did the BKLYN national tour (obviously). Godspell never made it quite there...

re: New Elphaba?

Jodie Langel? She's come close; she SHOULD have this role some time.

re: New Elphaba?

Diana DeGarmo has made her career in music, not television (American Idol withstanding.)

ABoyLikeThat, the person has been in one previous Broadway show.

That would be an interesting reunioun for Julie(assuming she's staying on as s/b) and Diana(if it would be her). Julie played Diana's mom in Brooklyn...LOL.

Diana really hasn't has a career in TV though. Just reality shows. Her career is a singing career.

re: New Elphaba?

I saw Marcie out here in LA in July, and I thought her performance was pretty strong, particularly her acting.

I also saw Laura Woyasz (who's replacing Katie Adams as s/b) go on as Glinda at that performance, and... well, my mother told me if I didn't have anything nice to say, then I shouldn't say anything at all.

I'm surprised that Julie isn't going to be promoted any time soon. The whole reason she left the LA company is because she was assuming to be promoted once Eden left, but the producers went with Caissie Levy instead and offerred Julie another standby contract. Seems weird she would take a standby contract without being promised the lead at some point.

re: New Elphaba?

adamgreer, Anneliese van der Pol is already coming to Broadway in the spring to play Kathy in VANITIES, which starts in February.
