That's incredible. Now I want Alex to go on as Orpheus.

Re: New Hadestown Casting

Ben Davis, Jasmin and Kayko have been out all week. I believe Davis' was a scheduled vacation. Might be a bonus to see the Eurydice understudy.

Re: New Hadestown Casting

Jasmin is a disaster up there and Kayko can't act to save his life (but at least he can sing the score)

Highly recommend catching this while they're out if you want to see NLB and Amber

Norman Leo Butz and Amber Iman are incredible in this. Both making really fun choices and doing things with the material I haven’t seen others do. The rest is pretty meh. But those two are definitely worth seeing.

Re: New Hadestown Casting

Jasmine was out for nearly two weeks due to COVID. And this was recently, so I doubt she misses much more.

Re: New Hadestown Casting

Wow, talk about a mixed bag. Norbert, Amber, and Ben are consummate pros doing outstanding work…the vocals are terrific, and they all make great choices that make the roles their own. With a good Orpheus and Eurydice, this had the potential to be the strongest cast since the original. Unfortunately, Kayko and Jasmin are giving two of the weakest lead performances I’ve seen on a Broadway stage. He has the slight edge because at least he can sing, though to say his “acting” is wooden is an understatement. Jasmin overacts and flails around without one real moment in 2 1/2 hours; as for her voice, I should maybe give her a break because I see from other posts that she recently recovered from COVID, but oof. Her “Flowers” was painful. And yet the other three are so strong that I’m still glad I saw it.

I want to see this with this cast with the hope that Jasmin is out. I'd say the strongest cast I saw was with Kurt Elling and company.
