They weren’t aware, which means they are not doing any due diligence before offering someone a major role on Broadway.

I mean, it wasn't an isolated video. He gave his ****ty opinions across many videos and seemed quite proud of them despite their low views.

How this random ass man even landed on their radar for casting is my bigger question...

Naturally, the conservatives & homophobes have taken to the news and are defending him.

It's always nice when a performer you admire - and I'm a big fan of Amber Iman - is awesome in real life. And Iman hasn't reached a stage in her career when being outspoken is without risk, which makes it even more impressive.

Correct, he is stunning in everything.

I'm glad they bought Geno out of his contract because stating "sexism isn't real towards women" and "men shouldn't hit women but women should learn to shut up" and judging women for the amount of sexual partners but not men is just... Gross.

He will never be on Broadway and it's a beautiful thing. Can't wait for a real man that actually likes women to be cast!

What an idiot this Segers is. I watched the videos shortly after his casting was announced and they had only like 128 views each. Why did he even keep making them?And he was so smug and obnoxious - he would have been offputting even if he had been talking about the weather. The fact that it didn’t occur to him to take those videos down when he was cast shows what an out of touch narcissist he is. Hope he enjoys doing short films for The Daily Wire because that is all that is going to be left of his career now.

How was Paulo Szot in the role? He just sang "His Kiss..." magnificently at 54 Below. Actually, his whole set was terrific, marred only slightly by a jittery Kate Baldwin who joined him on a couple of duets.

Nice to see that a 100000000% avoidable problem has now been avoided!

Don't blame the casting director, they don't make decisions (though they should be flagging these things when presenting options). Blame the lead producers and director/associate director who sign off on all casting decisions and have a dozen minions between them who could have easily found this information with a quick Google search...

Anyway.

After the success of Boykin and Szot, they should be looking to the opera world for their Bass-Baritones. Not stars on the level of Eric Owens or Ryan Speedo Green (because they're probably booked years out), but there's no shortage of quality Bass-Baritones who can act.

Or how about Jamie Jackson, who was sufficiently creepy as Judge Turpin?

Assuming some other "menacing baritones" like Marc Kudisch and Shuler Hensley and Stokes either don't have the low notes or don't want to do it.
