"The biggest drawback of this announcement, in my opinion, is that Susan Stroman will be directing. I hope that she has a good DP."
At a interview I saw her in (when Contact was in talks to be a film), I remember her speaking about film and she sounded confident when she spoke about directing films vs. shows. She talked about all sorts of things that are different and I think I remember her saying that she has had some kind of experience with cameras and such.
I think it'll be interesting to see what she does with it. Plus, Mel Brooks has commented he will be around since he has "done a few movies". So she has that working in her favor...
I wonder what numbers from the show will be cut

I've heard that "Springtime For Hitler" is going to be replaced with something called "You've Got Possibilities". Roxy should approve of that.
For people arguing about the difference bewteen the original film and the musical, I believe the stage version and the screen versions to be clearly different, but niether better than the other. The original film was far more cynical with its humor. It was a harsh, biting comedy that wasnt afraid to be that way. However, when Brooks brought it to the stage, he realized something that it needed that was missing from the original film: heart. While hillarious, the film had no heart. The stage version on the other hand focuses far more on the budding friendship between the two men and the emotional change Leo goes through. And in terms of playwrighting rules, I believe this works better this way. it is far more stage oriented with the added heart. therefore, now making the stage musical into a film is not any attempt to replace Brooks' original comedy, but rather just another look at a story he has already told, though this time, through music. the two are both fantastic pieces of art, which will exist that way separately, not in comparison or replacement of each other.
