Love Depp as Sweeney, although I think Helena looks more like the beggar woman than Mrs Lovett.

USA Today reporting that the film will open wide Christmas Day.

Check out the better quality picture there.
This is great news. Paramount/WB/DreamWorks clearly feel they have a great film on their hands and have bumped up the release even more to hammer home the Oscar stink.

OMFG, I am so in love. I can't wait for more stuff. Helena kind of has the "Patti in Sweeney Todd concert with George Hearn" hair/cleavage thing going on.
One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

Helena kind of looks like she is going to the Prom. I expected something a little more homey. I mean for an unpopular lady who makes human meat pies and all. :)
I am looking forward to the acting and I like JD's streak! It's got pizzazz! Hopefully, some of Helena's costumes look typical and a little wretched in the film. It isn't her ego, she got ugly in Merlin.
Thanks for the photo though! This really is a great website.

That picture isn't actually a great representation of the Lovett dress. The colors are in dark greys and bruised purples, and the intricate pattern on the tunic is echoed throughout the costume design of the entire film. The Lovett look is very stylized. Kind of a Miss Havisham if she were a black widow in a laudnum bottle.

I can't say I'm suprised by the look of the film- It's Burton. However, I love it just the same.
teaser trailer... please.

Michael Bennett- do you know more about the film, or is this based on pure observation?

I do know some 'more' but of course haven't seen the final product. The look of the film, is indeed, almost black and white (or again that bruised purple and white). Most of the costumes fit into the that color scheme, with occasional flourishes of a dusty, dried almost blood colored red (like the lace on Lovett's bodice and hat.) Though obviously this look is "pure Burton" - it also is in keeping with the way John Logan described the look of the film in his initial screenplay for Sam Mendes. If that holds true, the blood will be the only vibrant color in the movie.
The design for the movie is striking. But its for the most part very simple: very flat surfaces juxitposed with small, very intricate textural details. Its all very stylized in my opinion. Visually, a lot of it does look similar to SLEEPY HOLLOW. And that seems to work fine.

Yes I am saying it looks like sleepy hollow by seeing two pictures.
It looks like it could be a scene from it.

Upon careful point for point comparison of this photo and the poster under extreme magnification, I can conclude, without doubt, that these are most definitely taken in the same room, from the same perspective but a slightly different angle. This means that we still don't know the extent of the room behind the camera. It also tells us that either the small window or the Lucy painting exist in that spot, but not both. I'd guess that the window exists in the film and the painting was photo shopped in for the poster. We can also conclude from this that I have an unplanned day off today and thus way too much time on my hands.

I guess its just me who thinks it looks exactly like sleepy hollow.
That's because it's the same director and costume designer. It's not the exact same, I can definitely see differences, but they're going to have a trademark style. People noticed similarities between these costumes and 'Edward Scissorhands,' again, same director and costume designer.

I knew that, thus im saying why it look so simmilar. I get it that he has a 'fell' but theres only so many times that he can use it before it just gets repetative. Sure Tim Burton is great, but hes made so many films you would think he could come up with something a bit different than past movies.
