I'm a little out of the loop on this. Has it been cast? If so, when will it be announced? It begins performances in a little more than a month...

Last I checked (Playbill.com's job postings) they were having a call for Roger on Tuesday afternoon...I guess they found someone!

I'm very excited for this cast! I have a friend in the show and he's tremendous.

I'm sorry I'm so lost and not following this. Does anyone know when the opening date is? and when we are allowed to buy tickets? Is the cast just going to be unknown?

It's not an all unknown cast. Corbin Reid is leaving Sister Act for the engagement per BroadwaySpotted and others. She will be one of the leads.

Define "unknown". ALL never cast before kids? No. Big well known names? No.

Well I didn't know who the hell Corbin was if that helps you feel better thisismyshow. It's not like Beyonce is stepping into the role. Hell, Tracy Thoms is even an unknown-no one outside of RENT heads knows who the hell she is.

Most working theatre actors are unknowns, I hate to break it to you.

Yeah, unknown doesn't mean "never had an acting job." It means unknown to most of the general population.

I think the point of this production is to make money.

Hell, Tracy Thoms is even an unknown-no one outside of RENT heads knows who the hell she is.

Well, she had a regular role on Cold Case for 5 seasons, so she's not quite as unknown to the general population as, say, Merle Dandridge (another old Joanne) would be.

Possibly with one exception, the cast is composed of actors who are primarily theatre actors. People in "our" community will know who they are.

Don't be hating on Corbin. She's a great young performer and having two Broadway credits understudying the lead in both is pretty respectable. Especially for being fresh out of college.

This version of Rent, I'm pretty sure, is supposed to be more "fun", because everyone playing the parts was growing up having the show on broadway. It doesn't matter if a Broadway swing is playing a lead in an off-broadway show anyway. An open call is an open call.
