First of all, it's spelled "gypped."
Second of all, how is that possible? It's the best musical of the season.

totally agree-- next to normal is ORIGINAL. and TOTALLY deserved every award it was nominated for.
BE is generic and the performance was beyond terrible. and awkward.
At least Elton took a moment to acknowledge the NTN team.

i really hope the N2N performance/alice ripley's crazed speech was enough to sell tickets.

Hahaha Alice's speech was something else...
Billy was deserving of the award, but it's annoying that it just won everything. I would have LOVED to see Normal win, and I think it's a better show, but I can see why Billy won.
I'd rather see N2N than Billy Elliot. Plus, Billy Elliot's ticket prices are insane right now. Unless I win a pair, there's no way I could afford ticket's to Billy Elliot.
at least it won score over Billy, as it should have.

^Very true. I would have been SO mad if Billy took score.
The only consolation was that Billy's performance was less then spectacular.
Hmmm .... in a musical, the music should be important .... so if N2N won for best score, and tied for best orchestrations ... oh well, who can ever figure out what logic deficiencies plague Tony voters.

I was expecting Billy to win, but I REALLY REALLY freaking wanted N2N to pull an upset
It's just not fair. Come on, I'm pretty darn sure most people agree that N2N is of equal or even slightly better quality than Billy, and it could have used it SOOOOO much more. *sigh*

I disagree
Next to Normal is just another pseudo hip rock musical like spring awakening. I'm glad the tony voters weren't in an underdog mood this year.
Original does not equal good.
On that note I think Allison Janney was robbed of a Tony while Alice Ripley overacted even during her acceptance speach.
That's just my opinion though.

I thought Billy's performance was a bit awkward and all over the place. Hair PWNED em'! Liza... what the f*ck happened? It's as if she had just had a stroke backstage and then went on!
Sorry,, Next to Normal was far superior to BE. Another Tony disappointment. Not surprised at all.

They didnt win everything--- the didnt win Score or Orchestrations- "N2N" deservedly won those.
She was BIZARRE in her acceptance speech. And I love her.
And while I was rooting for N2N, I am, sadly, not suprised.
Elton was doing what he does so well, playing the Lady Bountiful w noblesse oblige to all the little people w aspirations to his level. And he probably doesn't even know that's how he comes off.
Glad N2N won best actress, score, and orchestration. Knew BE would get best musical, I mean come on, which show would do better on tour?
no jazz it looked more like liza was having the stroke onstage presenting the award.

At least all of Next to Normal's lyrics make sense and drive the story...unlike that bowl of crazy that is SA's lyrics.
