Im movin to NYC from Georgia in around a week and a half, and one of the first things I plan to do is rush this show.
I have never rushed a show before, and although it may not be a huge deal, I'm a little nervous.
Ive caught bits and pieces from other threads, so this is, from what I've read, how it happens:
-I show up, on my selected show date, at an early AM hour.
-I wait in line, outside the theatre door (?) for the box office to open.
-I either get one or two tickets for $25 (?) a piece, cash only (?)
That's basically it right? I just don't wanna look like a bafoon on my first rush experience.

Posted: 8/16/09 at 2:48amI don't get how some people do this on a regular basis. Between waiting in line, sleeping the entire day, and finally seeing the show, how does one have time for anything else other than eating dinner? While I enjoyed the show, I'm glad I got my viewing "out of the way" months ago.

Tussin, I've never done this before (and won't again). I just had a friend visiting and wanted her to see it from the best possible seats.
Heo, they said they got there a few minutes before me, at 4am.
oh, and the folks who clearly do this regularly were horrendous. Loud, obnoxious teenage girls with their enabling Long Island mother, dressed in clothes clearly out of her daughter's wardrobe, screaming about "Alice" and "Bobby"

Oh, my post wasn't directed at you (or anyone in particular) at ALL.

Posted: 8/16/09 at 9:37pmSooo if I wanted to rush on a Tuesday what time would I have to be there? Is it less busy on a Tuesday than Saturday? I hope.

Posted: 8/17/09 at 5:25am^ I walked by about 5am last Tuesday and there were 8 people in line. I'm guessing it's the same time for everyday. On Sun they started getting there at 3am. When I walked by on Monday at 5am there was 12.

Posted: 8/17/09 at 8:33amI'm rushing right now(1st time).I got here at 5:30 and am 9th in line...man in front of me was telling me that he tried rushing yesterday and people got here at 3am, but he was 20th in line and everyone in front got night show seats, so he couldve gotten front row for the matinee. It's 8:40 now and there are only about 20 people at most in line. Latest people got here at around 8, and the theatre passed out wristbands at 7:30. This is...fun.

Posted: 8/17/09 at 8:42amMy friend rushed the other day and got there at 7:30. She said she was given tickets in the rear mezz. Do they always do that?

Posted: 9/11/09 at 2:55pmdo you think once kids get back into the swing of classes, the rush is going to die down? i wanted to try it the day of the broadway flea market, but if the flea market itself supposedly starts at 7, and it's right by the theater..what time do i even need to attempt getting there? i was hoping to get to the theater around 6:30? and the box office opens at 12

Just to add my experience, I did the rush last Sunday (after seeing the show on Saturday I desperately wanted to go again before leaving New York).
The box office opens at mid-day on Sundays and I got there around 10.15am and was 31st in line (the wristband thing they give out had the number written on it). I was worried I wouldn't get a seat, but as they sell rush tickets for both the matinee and evening I was lucky and got the end seat of the front row for the matinee. The first people in line said they had been there since around 5am

Posted: 9/11/09 at 10:53pmthat's exactly why i'm wondering, because aaron's back and it's a sunday so I wasn't sure how early to get there. cause in the past i've rushed on a monday and saturday and got there around 6 and was fine. so is it safe to show up around 8 since it doesn't open til 12?

^ You should get there earlier than 8.
I got there at 6:30 today and was 24th in line (that was the number on my wristband). Luckily I was going to the matinee so I still got AA 9 & 10 but it was close!

Posted: 9/13/09 at 12:34amThe wrist bands are handed out to each individual person, so I would assume the 24th person in line.

Posted: 9/13/09 at 5:24pmI got to the rush line around 7:50 today and was 18th in line. I ended up leaving five minutes after I got to rush because I decided to go to broadway on broadway instead, but I probably would've gotten a ticket if I had waited.
