No, it's a case of one person's word against another's.
It's not a "clear case of discrimination" it's open to debate on if it was, or if he overreacted, or if he is trying to drum up press for his Birdland performance.
The Advocate has this article listed under their Gay Activism section
And the last line of the article is, " Adams is gearing up for his solo cabaret show debut at New York's famed Birdland on August 17. For more information visit BirdlandJazz.com or Adams's official website"
I guess he wasn't traumatized enough to forget to plug his show.
Of course he was discriminated against.
This would have nothing to do with the fact he has his cabaret act coming up which needded publicity. And Nick, if nothing else is a media whore, who goes to any and all openings as long as he gets his picture taken.
So what if he hurts the reputation of a bar, just as long as he gets his name in print, thats whats important.
I think Narcissistic Personality Disorder really does apply.

Fair enough, it's open to debate, but if he concocted this for publicity then he's far stupider than even most of you think.
I do believe that if this thread were about someone most of you actually liked, this thread would have a decidedly different slant to it - but because it's Nick, it's a joke.

I've avoided making any posts re: Nick Adams on this board or any other. However, for what little it's worth: yes, he has an impressive physique; he doesn't have a particularly attractive face; if he were all that talented, someone in a position to forward him would have done so, if for no other reason than to make a buck. Bottom line: he's nothing special, beyond a good physique and there are gobs of those around (think Spencer Liff).

Why did he tell The Advocate he was holding his boyfriend's hand, but didn't mention it in his screed on his blog?

Ghostlight has a point- it's not like Nick Adams has a history of using every slight, real or imagined, as a springboard to more publicity.
Wait, now that I think of it, strike that.
"Why did he tell The Advocate he was holding his boyfriend's hand, but didn't mention it in his screed on his blog?"
Phyllis, I think he's wanting to save that question for when Barbara Walters interviews him about the subject.
The issue is relevant to discuss, since perspective on discrimenation is in the news - Cambridge MA , Prof. Gates and the white police officer.
If people are going to put themselves out there, they are opening themselves up to the scrutiny and crticism that comes with that.

Nick Adams is a media WHORE!
I think a good question here is what is considered a t-shirt? I have seen some nice men's short-sleeved shorts that I wouldn't, personally, consider t-shirts. Could it be possible that the men that were allowed in where wearing nicer shirts?
Jordan, you hit the nail right on the head in your comment on the 1st page!
She's wearing a white T-shirt. Granted it is a girl, who they tend to be more lenient with. For example, they say no tank tops, but most girls go to clubs with tank tops. Also, it depends on the bouncer. Some are extremely strict.
Those were the only white T-shirt pictures I could find.
What?
No skull caps?
Dang.

I guess I'm not getting in.
When I think of a "plain white t-shirt" I think of a men's undershirt. Which have been worn as shirts by some.
millie, I went to the site and found that bottom picture also. I guess he was allowed in because his white t-shirt had graphics on it! Personally, I never go to places with that many rules on clothing. I don't wear half of those things but I still think it is crazy. And just looking at some of those pictures, no matter what these people wear in there, they are going to get pretty plastered and wild. I could be wrong. It did go through my mind as to why he even wanted to go to this place? Just my thoughts.

I was thinking along the lines of a white undershirt (or wife beater) as well.
