Hmmm I am definitely surprised. They couldn't get replacements for Angela and CZJ that would have brought people in?

Awwww...you mean we don't get to see Debbie Reynolds as Mme. Armfeldt and Carrie Fisher as Desiree?!!! BUMM-ER!

Ugh.
I'm sad.
I still think it's odd they couldn't find ANYONE. If they close without recouping, that sucks.

My guess is that Debbie Reynolds might have worked out as "Madame," but without a real draw as Desiree, they would start bleeding money. Best to go out on a high note.
E flat, I think.

I find it hard to believe that they couldn't find replacements that would bring enough people in to stay open for at least the summer.
I'm also wondering what impact (if any) this will have on CZJ's Tony chances as they're now closing a week after the ceremony.

GUTTED! Was one of the top shows I wanted to see in August.

I find it strange the show never recouped..since it has been doing very well. How expensive can a Menier production be to set up and run? (CZJ and Lansbury must be getting their share).
Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

DAMN IT!! I wanted to see Debbie as Madame!!

If the show is close to recouping, they should have tried running the Summer with "Broadway names." If CZJ won the Tony, maybe they could have enticed her to come back in the Fall?
Oh well. I am glad they are going out on a high note. I just hope this was the best decision for them.

It's a shame, I think Desiree it's such a great role so I'd have loved to see different actresses play the role, or at least just another replacement. I'm glad I got to see Zeta-Jones in it though. I can't believe they didn't recoup, that's very surprising.

I am now prepared for Montego Glover and Katie Finneran wins. Oh well!

I, too, was wondering if this will affect the voting for the Tonys. Not that we can truly ever know.
I agree I'm surprised they weren't at least WILLING to try to make a go of it. Perhaps they looked at the HUGE drops in numbers during CZJ weeks off as a sign to let it go with the current stars.

Finnyran was gonna win anyway. All Landsberry does is sit there for 3 hours.

Don't make me cry! The Montego Glover part, not the Katie Finneran part. I guess I should try to accept it though. I am really sad that her win is now a likelihood.

Are they really not going to recoup by closing time?
I hope they film this! DVD Sales would be a great way to recoup this investment.
