I got the craziest idea for a cover of Stephen Sondheim's first incarnation of WISE GUYS. Based on what I thought they looked like, I put a picture of a toad and a picture of a koala with a top hat and a Bowler, respectively. My only mistake is putting "New York workshop Theatre" instead of new york theatre workshop, anyways, here it is!

Posted: 8/25/11 at 10:07pmThanks Carlos! Please don't degrade your work! All it takes it practicing your art. (And, let's face it: theatre poster design is a pretty awesome hobby to have!)

Just finished The Day Before Spring. I try to make the posters look like they came from their era. It's fun to research.

Posted: 8/26/11 at 12:05amNice, WSS! I kinda hope we could have a running topic like this on the board. I love seeing the work people do. I find it inspirational. Plus it's a great way to advertise your work (and also show how big of a nerd you are. Of which I am horribly guilty!).

Beautiful job WSS -- you should take on the infamous design for "Alice" the Debbie Allen vehicle that tanked out of town (discussed in this still current thread). I actually think, beyond that black and white handbill, there never was a full sized color poster...

This is a Cd/Poster cover I did for CANDIDE. It's a rough cut.

Hey, if anyone wants to make a nice CD cover for the Candide concert or the final Rent cast I'd be greatly appreciative. I have no artwork for either of them on my ipod.

I agree that the new Follies artwork is amazing, but the "FOLLIES" logo on top of it doesn't jive.....
I wish I were creative enough to fix that and post. Can anyone create a logo that has the word "follies" made up of torn up letters or something like the rest of the poster????? it also annoys me that the arch in the word follies doesn't follow the same arch as the woman's face... and the F is bigger than the other letters.... annoyed.

Posted: 8/28/11 at 1:11pm@Jamiekennywicked I could have sworn I've seen that artwork for a regional or community theatre production of 9 TO 5... wonder if they used your artwork or you both had the same idea... lol. I love it, though! It's something different than the Broadway and Post-It artwork.

Proper Villain, your Follies poster misstates the book author. It was James Goldman, not John Wiedman. Other than that, it's a beautiful picture.
Also, a CD cover version of your Passion poster would be much appreciated.
