I agree that Rob should be nominated and I think he's got a very good shot at it. I don't think Santino in Cinderella is a lock at all. I think he could very likely be left off the list. He was solid but the role was blah. Plus CINDERELLA got mixed reviews and seems to not be leaving much of an impression (even though it's doing very good business).

I Think Brandon Victor Dixon barely leaves the stage in a huge hit (ticket wise), Billy Porter and Bertie Carvel got stellar reviews and leave the biggest impression in their shows. Anthony Warlow seems to be the best element of ANNIE. Jim Norton was wonderful

It's a tight category this year.

Of course he will be nominated but obviously, the newer productions and performances will have the advantage with voters.

It's not that the NEWER perfs have a better chance....its that they are currently running.

You can't vote for something you didn't have the chance to see. MANY of the Tony voters are out of towners.

Anthony Warlow wouldn't be considered supporting?

It has already been ruled that Warlow and Crawford will be considered for Leading Actor and Actress.

Although I enjoyed Jim Norton in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, I couldn't help remembering how much more interesting and entertaining George Rose was in the role. For this reason he will not win. He may be nominated but he won't win.

Rob McClure will be nominated. Bill Porter will be nominated.

I hope Annie gets snubbed accross the board. This production is an insult to the original. which has so much heart and imagination. . Anthony Warlow was serviceable in Annie but by no means a stand out.

I hope no one under 13 gets nominated. They don't need a Tony at this point in their lives.

I think he'll get nominated for sure. He was the best thing in the show.

My votes for Best Actor Tony is a musical is Jim Norton and Rob McClure. I will be thrilled if either one wins. I have not seen Kinky Boots yet so I cannot comment on Porter.

I feel the only other nominee from Drood should be Andrew Samonsky. The rest were good but not outstanding.

You do realize Andrew Samonsky is not eligible right? (For Drood that is... he is eligible for Scandalous...)

Why not for Drood?

He was a replacement, he took over the role the last few weeks when Andy Karl left early to go to Jersey Boys. Samonsky was fine, but I think Andy Karl was much better.

The producers of MATILDA would be crazy not to put Carvel in the leading actor slot, it would be a total lock. And it really is up to them, or at least to put it before the Tony committee. Surprised we haven't heard about this yet...if they don't, then he's a definite featured actor winner. Hardly anyone this season has gotten reviews as good as his.

We haven't heard because it hasn't been ruled upon yet. The Tony committe that makes those decisions, meets four times to discuss these things (I think its 4) I'm fairly certain they don't discuss shows until they have officially opened which means Matilda discrepencies will be a part of the final meeting which will happen right after Pippin opens. (It would be pretty soon after that since noms come out only a week or so after that.

I know this will never happen since Chaplin has no shot at a best musical nom, but if McClure is nominated, I really want to see him perform on the telecast.

The show was by no means my favorite, but his performance was probably one of the best I've ever seen.

Even though there are a lot of candidates for this category, I think there are very few locks for nominations. I think Rob McClure is one of them, and Billy Porter is another. Bertie Carvel is, if he gets put in Lead (which I personally think would be a mistake).

The other realistic possibilities are:
Matthew James Thomas - he's the lead in the hot musical revival of the season
John Bolton or Johnny Rabe for A Christmas Story - they both got good reviews at the time, and look even better in retrospect
Stark Sands - I think Kinky Boots will get a decent number of nominations, so he has a strong shot
Anthony Warlow - I don't think Annie will do that well
Jim Norton - I loved Norton, but I don't think he'll make it ahead of the other people I mentioned

in roughly that order.

I would add that I think McClure has no chance of actually winning.
