Posted: 7/15/11 at 11:37amI was watching The Music Man the other night (the Robert Preston version, not that horrible Matthew Broderick version) and I thought how perfect NLB would be as Prof. Harold Hill in a Broadway revival. Would NLB even do a revival? Thoughts?

I need a moment to wrap my head around someone having to tone it DOWN to play Harlod Hill.
OK...I'm in.
As long as I'm in, I'll suggest Katie Clark as Marian.

not that horrible Matthew Broderick version
Broderick was miscast but the film itself is not horrible. The rest of the cast are fabulous and I can't help but smile when watching it.
As for Butz as Hill - I'd see it.

Wow, couldn't disagree more. For me, everything about that movie sucked. Broderick's performance was just the cherry on top of the big pile of poop.

Ideally, Marian would be a little younger than O'Hara.
Then there goes my suggestion of Kate Baldwin.
Oh, and I'd like to see LuPone as Mrs. Shinn.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Posted: 7/15/11 at 6:37pmThe reason it seems like a good fit is that he played Freddy in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The two characters, though different in tone, share a ton of similarities. Would he be great? Obviously. Is it inspired casting? I don't think so. I find it quite predictable actually.
