OK Wicked People, Question

Was there ever an Asian American woman who stood by or played Elphaba on tour? A friend said they saw someone and i can't figure out who it could have been.

re: OK Wicked People, Question

There have been Asian people in the cast, but none of them played Elphaba.

That's Deedee Mango Hall, maybe she's understudying for Elphaba now.

re: OK Wicked People, Question

I know Lea Salonga sang "Defying Gravity" at a concert, but otherwise I don't think one has.

There HAS been an Asian Glinda, though.

re: OK Wicked People, Question

I've seen a lot of people on message boards who think that Eden Espinosa is Asian (she's not), so maybe she was talking about her.

re: OK Wicked People, Question

I know that the there are two elphabas and two glindas in the Tokyo theme park version. Both Glindas are from Japan wheras one Elphaba is from america and the other one is from Austriala sp? I heard a rumor that they are considering both of them for the Japanese production of the show. Being that they both live in Japan they know the language fluently so knowing the language won't be an issue.

just so you know winston- there are more than 2 of each... Jemma Stevenson, Hamada Megumi, Taylor Jordan, and Jillian Giacchi all play Elphaba in the theme park version of Wicked.

EDIT:

and in some pictures, Maria Eberline looks asian!

That's good. "Deedee Mango" sounds like a stripper.

THEMEPARK? THIRTY MINUTES? JAPAN?

*cringes, cringes and cringes again*
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

I've seen a bootleg and it's utterly fabulous. I don't even think Fiyero's a character.

re: OK Wicked People, Question

PersonofInterest, I believe you are referring to Maria Eberline. She was an Elphaba understudy on tour, and is part Phillipina.

re: OK Wicked People, Question

so, the 30 minutes version is more embarassing than the full length version? at least the 30 minute version was funny....
