re: OOUCH! Mammas Got 3rd Degree Burns

Bob, I was meaning between ?Behind The mask' and 'Too Close'- Im well aware of shorter runs! I was at 'Wilde', amongst many others!

Londons shortest ever run was 'The Intimate Revue' at The (poor old) Duchess, it closed in the interval.

Mama + Bob good bit of info!

How can a show close in the interval, "don't bother queuing for the toilet and sorting out interval drinks, there will be no part 2 tonight, there won't be a show tomorrow night either"!!! lol

re: OOUCH! Mammas Got 3rd Degree Burns

So I FINALLY saw this,
I think both myself and rasberrysparkles agreed that, with script changes, this could make a delightful play, but is disastrous as a musical!
In Act 2, EVERY TIME he went near the gun, most people in the audience started whispering "Do it... NOW!"
I did feel ABIT rude at one point (When I laughed VERY loudly when Rex got punched) but after speaking to the actors afterwards, even they agree this show is awful!
Nobody walked out... not even at interval!
But I have to say, the acting was second to none, OUTSTANDING perfromances by all, ESPECIALLY Helen Dallimore, who was INCREDIBLE!
If you are not sure whether 2 sit through this or not, I would say, YES, because I have never seen actors work so hard on a stage to try and make the best out of a s**t show, ESPECIALLY considering they know its closing a week Saturday!

I feel we should point out that there were no more than...60 people in the audience? I could tell by their faces at curtain call, they just wanted it to end.
Some of the acting was great, but i couldn't hold it together during "At One With The Gun", I nearly cried at one song in the second half (the one where Rex is describing the movie, his gun noises were too much for me) and I spent a large portion of it watching with my sleeve stuffed in my mouth!
Ahhh it was great, the second half was definitely worth staying for!!
Thanks for coming CON, sorry for hitting you at one point haha! x

It's alright, in all fairness, i did laugh VERY loudly at a very serious moment (When he punches Rex)

Thanks for a good night!

I am, but in London the following weekend to watch good shows, lol. and was down last weekend too, theatre is a very expensive hobby as i'm sure you well know.

I'll have to think about it, the other half thinks i'm crazy wanting to go to London to watch a show i know is going to be awful.

Sounds like the theatre event of the season!

And for those of us who can't be there, we expect a full report the next morning (and we pray for wireless updates at the interval).

But y'all had better hope ol' Ernie doesn't load up his double barrels with birdshot and turn it on his hecklers.

Mama - I'm pretty sure a lot has been changed since you saw it! It was still pretty bad though haha.

re: OOUCH! Mammas Got 3rd Degree Burns

I really did, the acting was outstanding, after getting used to the fast moves and the whirring sounds, I really liked the sets, costumes were simple, but effective, and in the assistants case, fabulous!
The story had real potential and made me chuckle in places, script was flawed but not awful, really the only thing that was SHOCKING was the songs, which is QUITE a big flaw in musical theatre, but Helen Dallimore had some very emotional solo's, and she perfromed them so well, you kinda forget about how lame they may be, after reflecting and thinking back, I would see this show again, and I did enjoy it;
If I was a reviewer (which maybe I should be, as it seems I am the only one who see's this show for what it is re: OOUCH! Mammas Got 3rd Degree Burns) I would give it 3 star's, not brilliant, but deffinatley ok!

re: OOUCH! Mammas Got 3rd Degree Burns

I just saw the worst thing I've ever seen on a stage ... and that includes my school's attrocious production of Caucasian Chalk Circle done as a drag show.

How it got investors I'll never know!! Helen Dallimore actually cracked during her Havana song. I'm pretty sure she wasn't supposed to start laughing and weeping half way though. Whoever was shoved on in the role of Rex was amazing ... amazingly mediocre that is. What was that set? Matchsticks covered in bird **** and vomit, with some very lucky dead animals. I too burst out laughing when Ernie punched Rex.

Totally looking forward to the revival in 20 years - Ernie Get Yor Gun!
