Hey! Corine! You go and do us proud. You help us, and we help you. Now, we're helping you to say hello to Hairpsray. Get your Tracy atire and get to the audition. Please, for me and Namo?

re: OPEN CASTING CALL IN NYC for 'HAIRSPRAY'

Phooey. I'm 5'0, "heavysetted", fit all those personality quirks, LOOOVE broadway....but can barely sing jingle bells on tune, let alone dance well. Grrrr.

Well, I was going and reading articles from my playbill collection a couple of days ago and I remember reading an article about Carly Jibson, where she talked about how this role could not be played by anyone who doesn't know what it's really like to be overweight. She said that's at the core of a character and cannot be faked. Just adding this in for those considering audition-good luck to all! And Corine you should definitely go for it! Maybe on some special thing, you'll get to perform with the cast of Avenue Q :)
"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

Obviously, they'll teach people the dances. Since all they're asking for is the singing at the audition. Corine, everybody knows you are PERFECT for this.

I would love to audition for it...I'm such a wimp when it comes to that kind of stuff though re: OPEN CASTING CALL IN NYC for 'HAIRSPRAY' Not that I'd have anyway of getting up to Manhattan for the day but (from Philly) it would be great, even if just going as a "practice" audition. The description sounds *perfect* for me

re: OPEN CASTING CALL IN NYC for 'HAIRSPRAY'

Damnit, first time in my life I've ever mad to be skinny.
What is Broadway? A street? Some say it's a street. Some say it is the best street in the world. Others think its terrible. That's the beauty of it, it's terribly beautiful. Some hate it and don't know why. Others love it and don't know why. That's what makes it so wonderful, it's a mystery.

I can hear the bells
I'd like to audition
I can hear the bells
But I'm lackin' the cushion
My brain tells me go!
But my penis tells me, "no!
"You are a male and you can't sing," so...
I can hear the bells!

Don't you torture me that way, Mr. Marc Shaiman. One day I was fooling around in front of my bedroom mirror, doing my hair up like Tracy's (before she bleaches in the blonde part) and something went wrong with my mousse and blow drier and the next thing I knew I looked worse than Lucy when she was economizing and gave herself a home permanent. Even thinking about it makes my heart ache. You and I both know I'd never get past the wig test.

re: OPEN CASTING CALL IN NYC for 'HAIRSPRAY'

Ok - now you all have me curious.... it's nice to be supportive but do you know anything about Corine that the rest of us don't? How do you know she'd be so great? I'm not saying she wouldn't, just wondering if you've all seen her perform somewhere before? It seems like everyone is rooting for her which is great, but if she doesn't want to then we should let her make up her own mind, k? Unless of course there is some hidden info of how amazing she is and then I'll give her ass a kick myself!

Corine, have a few milkshakes and make sure they go right to your thighs! You'd make a terrific Tracy!

To answer Popular's question:

Corine used to be the size of a house--a brick Colonial--but she's been dieting and now is almost svelte.

She lost quite a bit of weight from walking her iguana on Park Avenue.
