Off Broadway Shows That Really Should Of Stayed Put

With Soul Doctor announcing its closure today, which shocked no one in theatre circles, but this would of been a good solid show if it stayed off Broadway, what other shows shouldn't of made the transfer uptown to Broadway?

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. I loved it at the Public and on broadway, but it was never able to capture the crowds necessary to be successful at a large venue.

Should've (sounds like should of) is a contraction of should have. Thanks to all who brought this to OP's attention. When I see this, an inner scream rumbles around inside me. You wouldn't want to hear it.

I do agree, I think BBAJ should have stayed downtown. As much as I think it's an awesome show, I just don't think it totally worked. The comedy and music is so small. it just can't compete with something like Wicked. Same with "Glory Days." I think the melodies and music are really pretty, but maybe the story wasn't so strong. It should have just stayed regional.

I would like to take this opportunity to add my agreement to those who feel like "should of" sounds worse than nails on a chalkboard. Also "would of," "could of," and anything similar.

I honestly bear no ill will towards the "grammar nerds" - any more than they bear any ill will towards those who make mistakes - but what bothers me is the constant barrage of posts pointing out other people's mistakes in grammar, spelling, or style. That's the nails on the chalkboard for me.

Re: grammar corrections - "a word to the wise is sufficient" Better to err, be corrected, and improve future posts, then repeat the mistakes into the future. The degree of snarkiness attending these " corrections" could be lowered a few notches however.

I think Off-Broadway musicals should know their place and never try to rise above their station in life.

The class system should be maintained and preserved.

Audiences expect that while they text, crackle their plastic candy wrappers, and talk at full volume during performances.

We can't have uppity artists thinking they can bring their lowbrow rabble to Midtown.

What about in a case such as this, where it's been pointed out to this very same person numerous times? Should we just assume they choose to ignore it and simply never want to be taken seriously? Or perhaps they are just grammatically hostile? Most likely, Phantom of London (or maybe it's supposed to be Phantom've London?) is just too self absorbed to be bothered with learning his language or reading responses to his threads.

The degree of snarkiness attending these " corrections" could be lowered a few notches however.

If you read more of Phantom've London's posts, you'll see the snarkiness is actually a little teensy bit justified here.
