Thanks for the memories, what a great show!!!
I'm gonna miss this show. It's such a classic, it's a shame it wasn't extended. I saw it a few years ago, with Christy Romano as Belle, who was phenomenal, and I just loved it. Au Revoir, Beauty.
Going to miss you Beauty!
Just got home from the show. It was the most incredible night of theatre that I have ever had. The crowd was just electric, and went nuts after every song !! They cheered for every set change, and there was entrance applause for every castmember.
Donny Osmond by far got the biggest applause, and he was great as Gaston. Totally hammed it up, and he was excellent.
But the shocker for me (and what made my night) was the performance of Anneliese van der Pol ! She was excellent as Belle, and her "A Change in Me" was the best I ever heard. It literally sent chills up my spine !
She also stopped the show after "Be Our Guest" to allow for a standing ovation.
After the show, Steve Blanchard made a speech, (Osmond thanked everyone as well) and called out everyone that was involved in the production. Loudest applause was for Alan Menken.
Just an incredible night !!
P.S. Just want to thank Jordan for "being my guest" today, and hangin with me (was also saw "110)-
You are a terrific person, and the day was a blast !!!

Oh wow..I wish I could have seen Anneliese as Belle. She's one of the few people from the Disney Channel with a lot of talent and potential.
Aww, Testing!! Thank YOU for allowing me to be your guest!! It was an amazing day...SO emotional!!
You are awesome and I appreciate your friendship! *hugs*

Anyone like Steve Blanchard's Elphaba riff at the end of Act I?
I enjoyed it. :) Why not. It's the last time he'll do it.
Like many, I'm also very saddened that I was never able to see this in its run. It certainly does feel like the end of an era. =(

This was my first show after a long absense from seeing Broadway shows. I was totally enthralled. Cast at that time: Beast-Chuck Wagner; Belle- Kerry Butler; Lumiere-Gary Beach; Gaston-Marc Kudisch. This was when it was at the Palace and the whole show was totally magical - I couldn't stop talking about it and I went back a bunch more times. This renewed my love of Broadway. I first saw Steve Blanchard as Gaston then later as the Beast. I will miss this show. ::sniff::

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I love the show and I can not believe it's closing. It's very sad to see it go and it's heart breaking. But, you really can't complain with a 13 year run on Broadway.
I will always have good memories of the show. Good luck to the cast and crew.
I am still on a high from last night !! (despite being at work already on a Monday morning!)
Jordan, have you come down yet? :))
Not yet. Especially from my "voluntary" at 110 :P
I listened to Beauty on my walk to work. (Don't hate...I just got lucky and got a school 4 Brooklyn blocks from my apartment.)
Yesterday was totally amazing!!!!!! I don't think I'll ever forget it.

Goodbye to my first Broadway show! I will miss it, and it will be so surreal to not see it on the boards the next time I see a show.
I just randomly starting singing "If I Can't Love Her" yesterday at work then I looked at the date and realized it was Beauty and The Beast's last show.
It was my first show I saw on Broadway: October 22nd 2000. Andrea Mcardle as Belle. I'll never forget it. The music, the costumes all washed over me and I was in love. Afterward I told my aunt, I wanted to do what Belle and The Beast did.
Goodbye BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.
You'll be missed. ♥.
1994-2007.
I saw this show 3 times: once in 2004 in its 10th year, once in January this year, and last Saturday for my last time. I had another chance to see it on my birthday back in 2002, but I decided against it. Stupid mistake.
People always bash Disney shows - whatever. This show was fun and magical, and it'll always hold a special place in my heart.
So sad to see it close. Personally, I think it is a dumb move, even though I know they need a theater for Mermaid.
I happened to walk by the Lunt last night and heard a LOUD applause. So I stood by the closed lobby doors and saw that the doors to the theater were open - everyone (in the back at least, ha) was on their feet. And I saw a lady walk by in the lobby - took me a few seconds to realize it was Andrea McArdle.
I didnt see McArdle there, but it was so packed, it was hard to spot anyone. Sean McCourt was sitting a few rows ahead of me. Woman sitting next to me spotted Barrett Foa, and John Tartaglia was there as well.
Also, the child actors from "Mary Poppins" were sitting pretty close.
Edit: I see it didnt take long for the Playbill to show up on Ebay !

Great pics ! Thanks for posting that !
Some of you were so lucky to see this as your first B-way experience! Mine was Bombay Dreams, also known as the definition of "mediocre".
Did Susan Egan show up for the final show?

would someone please be able to post a review of the last performance?
there was a thread about it before, but it was only about a chorus line sofar.
thank you
The performance was good.
The Donny Osmond fans were a little obnoxious ~ screaming like pre-teens every time he wiggled at all. but they did settle down by Act II.
Everyone was on in their performances. Anneliese is a slightly more somber/serious Belle than I'm used to, but she did a good job. At times her speaking voice made me think of Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz. Very similar qualities.
Steve let fly on "If I Can't Love Her" and it was amazing.
The whole experience was magical (save for the witch who flounced around in front of me and was totally rude ~ to the point of almost pushing an usher down the stairs while GRABBING for a playbill and then climbing over the row in front of hers to get to her seat...I heard she actually complained to the head usher about how "rudely" SHE had been treated...I saw the whole thing and the usher who was dealing with her could not have been nicer, he just asked her to please not climb over the seats) and I'm very grateful testing1232 allowed me to "be his guest".
I'm sorry I'm not more specific... I was already pretty drained from seein 110's closing performance. I didn't hang at the door afterwards. I was tired and frankly after Broadway on Broadway last year, the Donny Osmond fans scare the hell out of me. LOL.
But it was definitely magical.
