It is encouraging that nearly all breakthrough cases, including those not boosted (which is most of them), have been mild. As was true with Alpha and Delta. But, as always, more data needed.

As to what I said about the ramifications of another Broadway shutdown, I stand by what I said earlier. Broadway would not recover.

No. Viruses can weaken or strengthen with each mutation; there's no "rule" or "trend" they follow. The next mutation may very well be more dangerous.

The nose thing drives me nuts, too. While I get that sometimes the mask slips - how can you not be aware? Usually it means the mask either never fit you - or you've been wearing it too damn long. It's actually disgusting how long some people wear the disposable ones before tossing. (And I don't want to think how often some masks go without washing!) I'm in a HS that requires mask wearing - all I say, all freaking day, is: cover your nose.

I was on Boston's subway this past weekend, and was pleasantly surprised by the adherence to the mandate.

But I'm vigilant about mask wearing in public, and have already had my booster - IF I become a breakthrough, I have no doubt it will be very mild. (And, truth be told, I wouldn't be shocked to find out I'm one of those folks that already contracted it and remained symptom free.)
