Many of you are bashing the OCC awards, because it doesn't matter if a show wins or loses. The same could be said for the Drama Desk or Drama League awards, in fact the Tony's often don't matter. Look at Wicked and Mamma Mia, Wicked did not win best Musical, best score or best book, yet it sells to 100% and Mamma Mia didn't win anything yet it still sells strong. These awards are more for those in the field to acknowledge hard work and a strong product. Theatre exists because of an audience, these voters are audience members and their opinion deserves to be heard.
