I hate to defend the man, but part of the reason ALW has gone so far is because he does things that might not occur to others to do. Not just the terrible ideas, like Phantom 2, but concept albums - I am led to believe - weren't exactly common before he got on board. He's successfully co-opted Saturday night television for what he claims is casting but is really the best possible advertising anyone could hope for. He's made about a bazillion pounds and has the longest-running musical on Broadway right now. We may mock him, and Phantom 2 will NEVER be a good idea, but somewhere - deep down in the brain behind those frightening blinky lizard eyes - I have a hunch he kinda knows what he's doing.
I think this is a great idea. My family loves the karoke and rockband games. I always thought it would be cool to have a game full of showtunes. I doubt it will be a 'Phantom' Game. You'd only end up with 6 or 7 songs. It will probably be an ALW Game with a bunch of songs from several of his shows. You'll probably be able to sing any song from any scene.
Norma Desmond can come down the masquerade staircase singing 'Crazy' from Starlight.
Mungojerrie can sing 'I Don't Know How To Love Him' on the Balcony of the Casa Rosada.
Yikes, maybe this isn't a great idea.
I've always thought musicals as video games would be brilliant.
We need a Broadway-themed expansion for rock band, too!!!
a Wii version of Avenue Q would rock!! One controller for the arm and the other for the mouth!
And one of the adventures would be to work in a Thai Massage parlor in the lower east side...

i am not a phantom fan but a wicked one next would be great. On Wii please
Can Lestat the game be far behind?
You turn it on & it turns itself off immediately.
HAHAHA!
Funny.
Or, A Les Miserables game. No matter what cheat codes you have... you will still die.
LOL, Mr. Roxy!
I was talking to huskcharmer earlier, and I agree that this is actually a good thing and could pave the way for move of the same in the future. As a Wii owner...I relish the possibilities!
And well done, Annas_Priest! I like the direction of this thread!

husk: It was a computer game. CD-ROM. If you want, you can spend around $50 on Amazon for a used copy, or just do a little poking around online for a Dos emulator and find the game online to download and play.

It runs on Dos?
Wow.
Could this game possibly be as big a hit as the Atari 2600's E.T.? I think so!
This is so COOL!!!
I know it is along the lines of rock band and others, but wouldn't be cool to drop chandelers on people.

Yero, how about a karaoke type thing, with Broadway songs? That would be neat, you could have like some from Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Mary Poppins, South Pacific etc. That would be intersting to see.

That's exactly what I was thinking!
Actually, the Rock Band style game sounds like a good idea. Phantom is one of those shows that is widely known the world, and some of the songs are legitimate hits outside the theatre community. I can imagine a lot of people buying this, especially if eventually one comes out with songs from multiple shows.

Actually there was a BACKSTAGE starring CAROL CHANNING computer-base video game floating around some years ago.
And a Tommy pinball game... now that I'd like to get my hands on, it actually makes sense.

Sorry, ALW, but I don't think I'll be putting down Assassin's Creed or Prince of Persia for this.
