I hate to defend the man, but part of the reason ALW has gone so far is because he does things that might not occur to others to do. Not just the terrible ideas, like Phantom 2, but concept albums - I am led to believe - weren't exactly common before he got on board. He's successfully co-opted Saturday night television for what he claims is casting but is really the best possible advertising anyone could hope for. He's made about a bazillion pounds and has the longest-running musical on Broadway right now. We may mock him, and Phantom 2 will NEVER be a good idea, but somewhere - deep down in the brain behind those frightening blinky lizard eyes - I have a hunch he kinda knows what he's doing.
I think this is a great idea. My family loves the karoke and rockband games. I always thought it would be cool to have a game full of showtunes. I doubt it will be a 'Phantom' Game. You'd only end up with 6 or 7 songs. It will probably be an ALW Game with a bunch of songs from several of his shows. You'll probably be able to sing any song from any scene.
Norma Desmond can come down the masquerade staircase singing 'Crazy' from Starlight. Mungojerrie can sing 'I Don't Know How To Love Him' on the Balcony of the Casa Rosada.
a Wii version of Avenue Q would rock!! One controller for the arm and the other for the mouth! And one of the adventures would be to work in a Thai Massage parlor in the lower east side...
I once heard someone describe her (Ruthie Henshall) singing as sounding as though she's trying to swallow a whole meatball slightly larger than her windpipe. (The same person compared Michael Ball's singing to sounding as though he's sitting on a washing machine on spin cycle and Colm Wilkinson's to a man with a paralyzed lip trying to eat cottage cheese.) --- Schmerg_The_Impaler
I was talking to huskcharmer earlier, and I agree that this is actually a good thing and could pave the way for move of the same in the future. As a Wii owner...I relish the possibilities!
husk: It was a computer game. CD-ROM. If you want, you can spend around $50 on Amazon for a used copy, or just do a little poking around online for a Dos emulator and find the game online to download and play.
Could this game possibly be as big a hit as the Atari 2600's E.T.? I think so!

Yero, how about a karaoke type thing, with Broadway songs? That would be neat, you could have like some from Wicked, Sweeney Todd, Mary Poppins, South Pacific etc. That would be intersting to see.
Everybody sing, like it's the last song you will ever sing/ Everybody live, like it's the last day you will ever see

Actually, the Rock Band style game sounds like a good idea. Phantom is one of those shows that is widely known the world, and some of the songs are legitimate hits outside the theatre community. I can imagine a lot of people buying this, especially if eventually one comes out with songs from multiple shows.

You know, ma'am, ? there's nothing I wouldn't do for you. ,If there was a monster or an ogre or anything bad like that wot was after you, I'd rip it apart with my bare fists, I would. - Sweeney Todd
