Ordered mine yesterday, thanks Bruce! Can't wait.
You must get sick of this question, but is there any chance that Drood will be released on CD again anytime soon?

Posted: 7/27/10 at 9:25pmDrood is owned by Universal - they're very tough to deal with. I may try to involve Rupert at some point when he has some breathing room. That's how I got it for Varese, so maybe if he makes it happen it can happen.

This is kind of Off Topic but it concerns bk. I was just having a little Partridge Family marathon and guess who kept turning up as Laurie Partridge's boyfriend?
Loved the one where he held Laurie's diary hostage.
Had NO IDEA it was bk until the ending credits rolled and I've seen these episodes a gazillion and one times.

Posted: 7/28/10 at 12:23pm:) For anyone who'd like to read about those days, that show, and many others, my new book, "There's Mel, There's Woody, and There's You" My Life in the Slow Lane is out and all about my days as a young actor, writer, and director, right up until the time I just said no and became a record producer back in 1993. You can read about it on the Kritzerland site, where signed copies are available, and, of course, it's available at amazon, barnes and noble, and those kinds of places.

I had a similar experience last weekend when I was reading about television spin-offs and saw a VERY FAMILIAR NAME in the cast list for TABITHA - a spin-off of Bewitched! I'm going to have to pick up a copy of this book.
Back on topic - while I want this CD to be a big success for you, I'm hoping you don't sell out completely right away. I'm in the middle of moving and won't be able to order a copy for a couple of weeks! =P

It may well be sold out by then - if you'd like us to hold a copy for you so you don't miss out, we're happy to do so - just drop a line to kritzerland at gmail dot net.

You're down to 250 of the OLC in just two days? Am I wrong or am I right that this seems to be selling faster than your initial 2-disc OBC Promises? I have a recollection of your announcement that you were down to 200 - 300 came at least a business week after you made preorders open for the OBC.
I too would love to know the story of how the stars aligned for this Buckley-rrific release.
I have First Nudie Musical on VHS so I have seen that, but now I want to check out the Tabitha and Partridge episodes.

The Partridge episodes are great. But then I've loved them since I was about 5 or 6. The one that really stood out for me and was just so funny was "The Partridge Papers" a Season 3 episode in which Laurie's diary gets held hostage by bk's character when Danny accidentally donates it to the school newspaper. bk's character holds it hostage because he actually has a crush on Laurie.
He also appeared as her boyfriend, in I think two other episodes, but each time he had a different name (!)

I've known the London cast recording of Promises Promises most of my life and loved it.
And I'm not technical here, but I have to say I've just been to the Kritzerland website, played the overture excerpt and it sounds so much more fresh and exciting than I could possibly have imagined, and yet it is definitely the same!!
Brody is right about the drummer as well.

The stars aligned - that's all it was. We had a meeting, things finally happened, it was all good.
This is moving a little faster than the 2 CD Promises - and I must say the re-pressing of disc two is moving along quite nicely, too.
My mastering engineer and I worked very hard on the London version to make it sound as crystal clear and exciting as possible.

I'm taking this to mean the wild success of the Kritzerland OBC reissue coupled with the Broadway revival, perhaps, had some influence in lighting a fire under some executive's hinder?

Posted: 7/28/10 at 6:02pmSo glad I ordered mine already- I am thrilled to hear the CD is moving so well- with all the recent talk about how CDs and especially Cast Recordings are a thing of the past, this just proves once again that when the right CD is released most people would still rather have the CD in their hands and not downloaded- or maybe it really is just me!

*BUMP*
How are we doing now sales-wise? When we can we expect this silver sliver of Buckley goodness to ship?

As noted above, it sold out about three days ago, although I think that Footlight might still have some, along with Screen Archives (the only two dealers who got some, and they didn't get a lot). Unlike the two CD Promises, this went faster - the two CD B'way set did very well, shipped, and then, when word got out, the remaining copies flew out the door. This one didn't even need to ship before selling out. Go know.
And I'm happy to say the CDs arrived a month early and were all shipped this morning. I'm exhausted from shipping out eight hundred CDs, but the Kritzerland helper and I got it all done. :)

Posted: 8/16/10 at 2:31pmA question, Bruce - Donna McKechnie is not in the cast list in the liner notes, but is identified as performing "Turkey Lurkey." What's the story there?

Posted: 8/16/10 at 3:36pmI've already answered it - Donna was gone by the time they recorded the LP (she was only in the show for a month) - she was listed on the cover because they used the original billing block, and she was listed on those songs on the back of the LP, and we simply duplicated what they did. But she's nowhere to be heard on the LP, which is why we listed her successor in the cast list.
