hi everyone! I live in Waterbury and I have to say the Palace Theater is beautiful on the inside. I would compare it to a smaller Wang Center theater, the sign on the outside is hideous though. It seems as though they ran out of money and stuck it up there at the last minute. I have not seen any touring productions but I have attended an event or two there and I think the place is beautiful. Sorry I don't know more about the productions themselves!

those are non-equity national tours. except for Evita which has equity leads and then Les Miz is equity. since the theatre has just been restored I'm guessing it's a nice venue. the quality of the productions can be assessed by reading their production reviews from other cities...

"the sign on the outside is hideous though. It seems as though they ran out of money and stuck it up there at the last minute".
They didn't run out of money. They weren't sure which direction to go with the marquee (digital, traditional, etc.). The new marquee will be displayed for all to see on 'Community Day', which I believe is in November.

Posted: 9/8/05 at 11:13pmI've seen Les Miz over 50 times in 10 years, and the current cast is definitely the strongest, most cohesive, most enjoyable I've ever seen. Hopefully a year from now, the quality will be the same or even better.

Posted: 9/9/05 at 1:44pmThanks for the tips/info everyone! Already purchased tickets for The Full Monty, and will purchase for 42nd Street, Les Miz and prob Miss Saigon after I talk to more ppl in the family to see who wants to go. Never saw 42nd street, excited, haven't seen full monty or les miz in years way before I had such a love for broadway and love Miss Saigon and hopefully will be able to bring family members who never saw it.

Posted: 11/22/05 at 1:58pmThat Full Monty producton is excellent. Stay away from "Evita". If it is the same production that has been touring.. it is dreadful.

Posted: 11/22/05 at 2:30pmDon't bother listening to any of the cast recordings; they can't hold a candle to the tour.

That, and I don't really care for any of the English-language cast recordings.
Anyway, the tour doesn't really have a site (other than lesmis.com), but I can direct you to Valjean, Cosette, Combeferre, and Joly's websites. :)
