Better safe than sorry, I guess? Omicron will most likely be a quick burn, and I would have guessed cases would be on the downswing by the time this show would have originally begun previews.

We haven't hit the peak yet for Omicron, which scientists are predicting may be the week of January 9. The point is that Paradise Square decided not to go into rehearsal right while the variant is still raging. It's not just about shutting down during performances. It's also about avoiding a shut down in rehearsal.

^ 100%. Stating that this variant is "a quick burn" is just pure ignorance considering we are still dealing with Delta.

Makes sense to wait. I do wonder if we will see other shows pushing back rehearsal/first preview start dates, and even the League extending the season by a few weeks...not that anyone really know enough about Covid right now to make a solid judgement about that.

Sucks it's being pushed back, but this might end up being good for me. I had tickets for the first preview in February that I got through NYU (I'm a student), but they were more expensive than the tickets are going for on Telecharge, so I guess I was being played (I wonder if they lowered prices because of poor interest). Now there are some solidly priced good tickets that I can take advantage of.
My Mom is also gonna be in town the week previews start to see Company and she would LOVE this show, so maybe I'll take her.

Preview prices have dropped significantly on Telecharge, with cheaper options available in all sections, particularly the rear mezzanine, where all seats are $39 or $55. Basically looks like discount pricing without a code.
