Posted: 8/21/13 at 3:10amDoes anyone have a sense how long Patina Miller is contracted for Pippin right now? My niece adores her and I want to get her to NYC before Miller rotates out, trying to figure out if there's a deadline yet. Thank you...

any word on the replacements?
interested to hear!

Posted: 8/21/13 at 11:01amYeah, me too. Especially since I've heard some of the cast are on six month contracts, which means some of them will be leaving soon (unless they've been persuaded to renew).

Posted: 8/21/13 at 11:32amI would love to see Vanessa Williams tackle this role, or Maya since she didn't get her debut in Chicago

Posted: 8/21/13 at 12:16pmI know of just Martin, d'Amboise & Mann that are scheduled to leave in September.
Patina Miller & Pippin#7
Posted: 8/21/13 at 2:04pmI've heard Martin has signed an extention til next year

Posted: 8/21/13 at 10:45pmAnyone else think Adrienne Warren would be good as the Leading Player?

Posted: 8/21/13 at 10:58pm^She was mentioned earlier on a thread about Pippin replacements. You can look through it here: https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.php?thread=1061584

Posted: 8/21/13 at 11:07pmah, yes I see. I didn't read that thread until now, but I'm glad others agree with me.

Posted: 8/21/13 at 11:37pmVanessa Williams as the leading player could be fabulous.

Posted: 8/22/13 at 8:01amIt's a vain hope, most likely, but I hope that when they're putting in replacements, which it seems will be a fairly intensive process because each replacement so far has made the role (read: the circus trick) their own, they take a second look at the script and re-insert some more of Fosse's rewrites into it. There's some stuff I still miss that I'd really like to be back in the show.

Posted: 8/22/13 at 3:16pmIts pretty obvious, I think, that when the time comes, Mann and d'Amboise will be a package deal; both will go or both will renew.
Patina Miller & Pippin#14
Posted: 8/22/13 at 3:18pmI doubt Vanessa Williams would be a replacement in any show.
Patina Miller & Pippin#15
Posted: 8/22/13 at 4:36pmVanessa would be a fun choice but I don't think she could nail the score.
Patina Miller & Pippin#16
Posted: 8/23/13 at 6:23pmYes i think so too! i would love to see the sex appeal Vanessa would bring to the role but i doubt she'll have the crops for it. Still love her tho!!!

I don't know about Martin or D'Amboise, but I'm guessing that Terrence Mann is leaving very early in September, like probably in the next week and a half. Western Carolina University has him appearing at a concert event there on 9/3 and then directing their student production of "Next to normal", which is due to be performed at the end of September. So I'm a little surprised they haven't yet announced who's replacing him.
Of course, it is possible that he is planning to re-up with the show and is just using this as a break.

Posted: 8/24/13 at 11:42am^ I know! Right? I'd love to go to that school and have him for a professor. Hmm, maybe I need another bachelors degree, maybe in musical theater, maybe at a certain school in NC.....(but I have a job, husband and student loan already, so probably not. Oh well, if this opportunity had existed 20 years ago....)

Posted: 8/24/13 at 5:55pmI think there was already a thread talking about this, but I would like to see Montego Glover tackle Leading Player. IMO, she was fabulous in MEMPHIS and I would love to see her back on Broadway.
Patina Miller & Pippin#22
Posted: 8/24/13 at 6:26pmYes, Ms. Glover was absolutely amazing. She did Memphis for three years straight, so she clearly has the health and stamina for a difficult role. I have seen her in a few things since Memphis but nothing major. Love and miss that show. That role would be amazing for her.

Posted: 8/25/13 at 10:15amPatina Miller is astounding in the role and will be difficult to replace. That being said, there is no question that Pippin will be running for many years, which means that there will be many replacements to come. I don't envy any actress/actor that would have to immediately follow Patina, but I agree that Montego certainly has the ability to step in and make it her own. I would suggest that since there will be so many Leading Players in the future, using a male from time to time makes sense. Someone like Colman Domingo immediately comes to mind...
