My friend dragged me to see PATTI & MANDY again tonight and right before Miss LuPone lifted her arms in "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", a cell phone rang. And it kept ringing. But Mrs. Peron kept her cool and was so into the song she started crying. She finished the song smiling and walked off the stage very calmly.

But DAMN, I wanted to witness a LuPone ass kicking in person. I'd have given anything...

Makes me wonder, if she "kicked ass" regularly enough when something like that happened, if some crazy people wouldn't actually go into the theatre with a mission to "make her freak" during a live show--just for the thrill of having her turn into Godzilla.

And yet its still miles better than Wicked, Mamma Mia, Godspell,Addams Family,Jersey Boy, Lion King, Mary Poppins, Memphis, Rock of Ages ... just to mention a few of the crap shows B'way now featues.

I don't know if it is much better, actually.....jealous of the people who have seen Patti in a real show.

I am not a fan of either. But wonder why charge those prices for a lousy piano and bass. If you want to do a proper show, get a proper orchestra.

I wonder what made this time different? It actually surprises me that anyone would have the balls to bring their phone to a Patti LuPone performance. I'd be too afraid.

My husband made me double check to make sure my android was off, we could NOT believe when a phone rang in the middle of her perfect presentation. Hoping for a ballistic moment!

The show was perfect, I don't understand the naysaying and negative comments. Get over yourselves. The two were in perfect voice, great chemistry, both had tears at moments. Saw her Woulda Coulda Shoulda at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis last year. I had front row seats 'full price' and worth every nickel. I would rather pay full price for a Patti in previews than take a chance on a dog. Been there done that - Pirate Queen, Cry Baby leave a raw sting in the pocket book.
