Such a deal.......
Thank you, nealb1! I was going to just pick it up locally but that was enough to make me pre-order.

It is currently listed as only 34% off on amazon. My local Borders will likely have it for 20% off the week it comes out, plus whatever coupon I get that week, with no shipping, so it will still be cheaper for me to wait this one out.
High pre-publication discounts like this are considered desirable by publishers and authors. Stores use these high pre-pun discounts to entice higher demand on a book that is already assumed to be a bestseller.
Pre-pub discounts are not to be confused with "remainder sales"--the tables of books that are unsold after months and months. On those remainder sales, publishers are cutting their losses and authors receive basically nothing.
But on a pre-pub discount like this, Patti receives the same royalty no matter how much the store discounts the book, and her publisher gets the same amount from a store that sells the book at list prices as it does from a store that sells it a 45% discount.
Can't wait for it to magically appear on my Kindle!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/mom/signup/info/ for 3 free months of Amazon Prime. Free 2-day shipping. There's one for 12 months for students, but I'm too lazy to dig up a link
Ordered it along with some books I needed for class. Thanks for the info.
Really didn't realize til now how many facial similarities (structurally) Patti has with GaGa. Seriously.
Within three months of its release it will be on the remainder tables. You will prob get it dirt cheap on December 26.
As for the Barbra book it will prob go the same route. In this economy no one is in the mood for a book about the garish houses designed by a vain yenta.
It's also almost the same price at Barnesandnoble.com:
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbninquiry.asp?EAN=9780307460738&x=
...$17.54 (32% off), plus if you're a member you get express free shipping.
Although it's not applying my member discount to the book, I guess I have to wait until it's released until I can use it on the book?
Im going to wait until the release date to order the audiobook. Im a BN member, so Ill get free express shipping and I will google a coupon code for BN and get an extra 15-20% off. I want the harcdover but Ill wait until it shows up on the bargain table.
I'd be careful about waiting for this to become a bargain title. It has a comparatively small print run and I honestly don't think you'll be seeing it remaindered any time soon.
Just a side note, the "express shipping" for Members really only works in NYC. They use the USPS and orders can take up to 5 days to get to Chicago....so if you're any farther west, it will take a while.
Hm, I'm in the Florida panhandle and it usually takes 3 days tops. But, it's free regardless, whether you're buying $5 or $50 worth of stuff.
Looks like the 45% was just for a certain time, as it's now 34%. Still a good price.
On the Borders & Barnes & Noble coupons, when I tried to use them at their stores, the cashiers told me that it only applies to full priced items, not discounted items. Maybe they have changed their policy?
Why doesn't Bernadette have an autobiography?
