Doesn't the show set a new record every performance?? Do they have a cake and a celebration after every show??
---------------------------------------------
'Phantom' to Set New Record with 8,000th Performance
The longest-running show in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, is set to reach another unprecedented milestone. With its 2PM matinee on Wednesday, April 4, the musical will become the first Broadway show ever to reach 8,000 performances. Now in its phenomenal 20th Year, the Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Group, Inc. production, directed by Harold Prince, continues to play at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street), with no end in sight.
The occasion will be marked with a special presentation during the curtain call at that day’s matinee. In addition, the cast and crew will celebrate with a private party.

I agree. Phantom for me was one of thsoe shows that I like the music but the show itself sucks. I know that there are times on stage where they have doubles for the phantom and christine so that they can appear on stage at different spots at the same time. But, can they make it any more noticable? Also, a lot of the time it looked as if the phantom was a badly controled puppet. Also, when the chandlear was falling it was so friggen slow that you could get through the sunday NY times including the crossword.
And this was a few weeks ago. I walked out at intermission thank god. Normally I NEVER do that but it was eiather do that or take my own life.

It's great to hear the show is still doing well after all this time. I loved it last year in London.
Hope it has many more milestones. Congrats....

Phantom deserves every bit of celebration it has earned. Nothing else will come close.
May the Phantom continue to haunt New York another 19 years :)

Lets have a playbill.com article for every performance now until it closes since it breaks the record every performance.
