Is this show better closer (lets say Row F) or farther away? I am seeing the last stop in L.A. and want the best view since they are both the same price.

Personally, I prefer this show, and most really, with a little bit of distance. Yes, the closer you are the more tiny details you will notice, but this show is one that I like to see the whole stage picture to take it all in without having to shift my focus all over the place.

Stick with at least 5 rows back and a few in front of the balcony's overhang.

If you're too high up the curtain in the Masquerade scene blocks the Phantom's entrance.

I definitely think this is a show that is more enjoyable from farther away. I sat on the mezzanine towards the center when the tour came to my city last year and it was a perfect view. If the theatre has a second balcony level stay away from of it. You will not be able to see a thing. Enjoy the show!

I'd say row F or thereabouts is pretty good for Phantom. That's for the Majestic though, which is also right under the chandelier. I am not familiar with the theatre you'd be seeing it at on the tour.

Go for the mez. You get the full effect of the chandelier raising to the roof there.

But the Pantages is a big ole house, I would stick to the orcheatra 5-6 rows back

I say it depends on if you've seen the show before...

If it's your first time, stay at least 10 rows back. If not, go for the close seats. I saw Phantom from very close once or twice and it was really cool.

We sat 15 rows back when it was here in Denver. Perfect seats. We didn't have to crane our necks to look up.

I saw it first front row, which was very cool but it blocked out some of the views, which was a little disappointing, but the experience was cool. I saw it again in about the 17th row, and got the full effect, but you couldn't see the details. So go for mezz.
