It IS Carly Hughes. She won't be ready right away-Ariana will probably play the role a few days.
As for who's replacing Andrea Martin-I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Priscilla Lopez comes back (she really wasn't in that long).

From what I gather, KDM will be with the show "through the holidays" at the least. I'm not sure if that's post-Thanksgiving or post-Christmas, but he's made it clear to the powers that be that he's very happy in the role.
Vocally, I think Carly Hughes will do well. She has a lovely voice--I saw her in Ragtime a day Stephanie Umoh was out. I think we'll see a more mature leading player with. She has this very precise and elegant nature to acting. As for her dancing, with enough time, tears, bio freeze, and a good teacher (and Brad Musgrove the dance captain is a Fosse pro), a dancer with staging training can learn to dance in the style of Fosse. Just takes time, patience, and discipline. That leads to the precision in the dancing.

Posted: 9/14/14 at 1:55pmI'm going to be at Ciara's final show today, and it looks like Charlotte is out. Lara Seibert Young will be Fastrafa today, according to the understudy board. (Just walked past the theater and they put that up sometime in the past half hour.)

No special speeches made or anything, but it was very, VERY high energy. Andrea got 3 standing ovations after Berthe's big song, Ciara absolutely killed it tonight, and the rest of the cast was on fire. Lara Seibert Young is a terrific Fastrada. I don't know how old she is, but she definitely appears to be at least a decade younger than Charlotte, which makes for an interesting Charles/Fastrada relationship, and also the Lewis/Fastrada relationship since they look the same age. Very funny though, and a very, very good voice.
No announcements were made about it being Ciara's last show, and no announcements about the new LP.

Posted: 9/17/14 at 1:12pmCharlotte has been out a LOT. I saw the show a month ago and she was out, my friend saw it the next week and she was out, and I saw it again last week and she was out. It may just be a combination of bad luck, vacations, and injuries.

Posted: 9/17/14 at 1:25pmif Charlotte has a lot of other commitments going on, she should just leave the show and let someone else take over the role full-time. She did the same thing in her last few months with A Chorus Line.
