Pippin cast changes

She's moved to LA. Not that this totally discounts the theory, though.

Well then it isn't Montego Glover. Damn. Rachelle Rak would be great.

I could see that happening!

It's Carly Hughes from Beautiful & Ghost! Hello everyone!

^^That would be great news if it's true! She's always been a standout to me.

Hughes' has a killer voice. Hope it's true!

Is she much of a dancer? This is very dance heavy role. (She hasn't done very dance heavy roles insofar as I can tell.)

Pippin cast changes

Hi guys
Did Terrence leave Pippin for good ?

Also, do you know who will be replacing Andrea Martin?
Thanks !

Mann left ad was replaced by John Dossett. They still have not announced replacements officially for Ciara and no one for Martin yet. apparently Melanie Griffith is supposed to be taking on a role in the show soon, but again, no official announcement.

I see Melanie as being more of a Fastrada. She doesn't come across as a Berthe.

Wouldn't it make sense for Lucie Arnaz to come to broadway while Andrea Martin plays LA?

Melanie Griffith would never play Berthe (even if she is older than she ever intended to be)

I think that's the plan for Arnaz to fill-in while Martin does the tour in LA. But the LA run doesn't start until Oct. 21, which leaves a month in between Martin's Broadway departure and when Arnaz would be able to join the Broadway company.

I think the general consensus is that Melanie is not a Berthe. I said "a" role not that role. I see her as a Fastrada as well, she's got a good relationship with the Weisslers, I'm sure they'd alter choreography for her if necessary to bump ticket sales.

Lucie Arnaz has a previous commitment (she's directing a workshop) which is why she's not doing the LA engagement in the first place.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I really hope it's true re Carly Hughes as LP. Am due to see it again at the end of the month and would love to see her.

I can totally see Melanie as Fastrada, obviously with some choreography altercation. Was Chicago heavily changed for her?

ChrisTyler-I don't know how much was changed (never saw her in Chicago) but she got great reviews.

Are you drunk? She almost gets booed off the stage. She was awful.

I heard she was pretty polarising. Even her greatest admirers seemed to think that her performance worked IN SPITE of what she brought to the table as a "talent". I would imagine that, although a smaller part, Fastrada would be harder to pull off without the requisite song-&-dance skills, and she is in no way right for Berthe.

Don't know what performance blaxx was at but Melanie never got booed when I saw her, was more the opposite.

I've seen "Chicago" in the triple digits since Encores!
Could Melanie dance? No. Could she sing? No. For some reason it didn't matter. She was Roxie.
Her Dancing was very "dumbed down" to fit her abilities. She mostly walked through it dancing wise.

I, honestly, could see her as either Fastrada or Berthe.

It mattered to me! She looked like she was in a family reunion performing for the uncomfortable guests after having one too many. She was no bueno.

You're right, she couldn't sing, dance, act or anything.

Melanie is completely wrong in every way for Berthe. As Fastrada, I could see it. She's just not quite right for Berthe.
