Please do not film shows

Actors are back on stage after the longest time. And they deserve NOTHING but respect from audiences. Ive seen way too many reports of people filming shows. Sara Bareilles posted an Instagram story calling out an audience member who was filming, asking people not to do that. Please dont say actors dont care, actors cant see us, actors actually like bootlegs-no. Please show them respect. Their ability to perform is the most important thing. Dont take them out of their performance by filming. Dont be selfish. Thanks :)

The only way to stop it is to confiscate phones as patrons arrive. Repeat announcements over the speaker system can modify the problem somewhat, but it does not eradicate it.

Sorry, I'm not exaggerating when I say I couldn't get along without my HELLO, DOLLY! bootlegs They're of amazingly good quality, too!

Once again, why are you addressing people that will never see your posts? You're acting like BWW is bootleg central, which it isn't. Didn't you get the hint when your last thread was deleted?

I really don’t see the point of this PSA when the bootleg debate has been driven into the ground.

And the argument that actors don’t like bootlegs isn’t necessarily true, don’t generalize for everyone. I know many enjoyed seeing recordings of their performances during the shutdown

I think the producers of Diana will agree with you.

STOP trying to save Broadway. It doesn't need your help. I don't like bootlegs either, I won't tolerate someone near me filming - but stop with your holier than thou attitude.

Alexander Lamar - thank you for your comment. I chortled.

If you have such a problem with my posts like this-maybe-just maybe like….ignore it? Move on? Don’t comment? No need to insult me. Just move on :) As far as I know this is a public forum and I can post this. Y’all clearly take advantage of that with how you treat people whose ideas are different from yours (and yes, I know I’m not innocent of this, I’m just saying some people take way more advantage of that than they should).

No holier than thou attitude, but nice try!

During the shut down, maybe. When they’ve worked so hard to bring a show back and then audiences can’t even respect them coming back? Not okay.

Again, if you have any rude comments about my post here, please move along. Spend time on posts where you have positive comments. That’s all :)

For over 20 years I’ve had countless actor/dancer friends who worked in countless Broadway plays/musicals and each one loved bootlegs of the shows they were in. If the bootleg featured them, these were gold to them.

Now, filming one from a few feet from the stage and in clear view of the actors is not only totally disrespectful but annoying as it breaks their concentration. These filmings never see the light of day as only these morons would do this and it’s for themselves. The true blue bootlegs are done from the mezzanine and in no way disrupted the actors on stage.

You have no concept of how you portray yourself. None.

You are NOT the only person allowed to speak their mind. YOU are posting on an open forum, which makes your comments open to our opinions. If you don't like MY comments.....scroll on by - just like you think others should.

Most actors I know love being able to have a record of their performances from bootlegs, as long as they’re made discreetly and not up close to the stage.

Dont post sh*t here

This is the last place you want to put this thread. Think about it, just for a second. Who would benefit from your speech? People on a theater board who spend time here, have tons of love and respect for theater in general, and for the people who make it happen?

No, that makes no sense. We don't need to hear your sermon and weird, fake, passive aggressive smiles.

Put this on social media websites (this is not one of them). Think about what you do before you do it. Thanks so much.

Can I just say one of my favorite responses I've ever seen here is "STOP TRYING TO SAVE BROADWAY" hahaha like absolutely hysterical.

Cause it so encompasses passive nonsense like this post.

I don't like it when people film shows, and yet I love bootlegs. It's complicated.
