Thoughts on each year:

2000-Why Contact was nominated over Aida is a mystery. Aida should have been nominated, and then been deamed winner.

2001-The Producers really was the best musical that season.

2002-Throughly Modern Millie was not what it could have been. Urinetown is priceless, creative entertainment.

2003-Hairspray is excellent. There really wasn't much competition.

2004-Caroline, or Change was the most innovative, although Avenue Q deserved the award...we just can't have ties...

2005-All four nominees were strong contendors, but Piazza made old school relevant in a beautiful and emotional way.

2006-The Color Purple...I actually don't have anything to say about this season...

2007-Spring Awakening was a pretensious, self important evening at the theatre... but it DID bring something thrilling to Broadway.

2008-Worst year for musicals of the decade...

2009-Billy Elliot and Next to Normal are both exquisite...I just so happened to side with the former.

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

2000 - Contact
2001 - The Full Monty
2002 - Urinetown: the Musical
2003 - Hairspray
2004 - Caroline, or Change
2005 - The Light in the Piazza
2006 - The Color Purple
2007 - Grey Gardens
2008 - In the Heights (but A Catered Affair was better)
2009 - Billy Elliot

2000 - A weak year, with Contact heads above all else (forget about Aida).

2001 - The Producers juggernaut not withstanding, Full Monty was a more emotional, involving show.

2002 - Another weak year except for Urinetown, which was unique.

2003 - Weak year #3. In hindsight, maybe Movin' Out should have won. Maybe not.

2004 - A strong year, with three impressive contenders (Avenue Q, Caroline, Wicked). Caroline is the best musical in a generation, not just this decade.

2005 - The strongest year of the decade and every musical had a decent shot. Scoundrels just happened to be the most polished and entertaining of the lot, but Spelling Bee and Piazza were just as deserving.

2006 - Jersey's Tony was undeserved but Color Purple couldn't fight the juggernaut. Chaperone was a trifle, despite Beth Leavel's show-stealing performance.

2007 - Spring Awakening and Grey Gardens both had significant artistic merit, and significant flaws. Gardens was just too esoteric for the masses.

2008 - Little competition here. A Catered Affair deserved to win, but the nominators thought Cry-Baby and Xanadu (!) had more merit. In the Heights won over a weak field. Don'tcha just luv awards?

2009 - A musically weak year, but BE's choreography and the enchanting Billy triumvarite were hard to resist.

I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

I loved N2N, but the ending was a little too easy "So anyway, I'm leaving..." Really? And honestly, I haven't seen Billy yet, nor Rock, but those gosh darn YouTube videos make their entire cast seem so fun! I will support them. Although, not financially by seeing their show.
