I would STRONGLY suggest not trying to be "clever" and just directly and firmly stating the rules and requirements. When you try and be "clever", the audience may giggle a tad, and then they will immediately disregard whatever you just said because they think it's "part of the evening's entertainment" and that the rules don't apply to them.
"Good afternoon [evening], and welcome to this performance of Little Shop of Horrors. The action takes place in the 1960s, an era devoid of cell phones and other electronic devices. And please, keep each other safe by keeping your face coverings on throughout the duration of the performance. The Little Shop of Horrors orchestra will be conducted by [insert name here]. Thank you for your cooperation, and remember... don't feed the plants!"

Thank you for the insight I will run it by my director and see what they think of it!
With completely different voice once a minute, tell the audience that they have a certain amount of minutes before the show starts. 10 minutes then five minutes than 10 minutes then 5 minutes again, then two minutes then 10 minutes again. If you have lots of seniors in the audience, it creates a lot of fun. You might make some people think that they're watching the little old ladies from ""The Producers".
