Tonite's episode has Project Runway partnering with "Finding Neverland".

I've seen Project Runway before but that "3D" line really made me howl. You would think that these "designers" would have some experience in at least costumes or theater to not be silly enough to make that remark; let's just hope they weren't talking about "Finding Neverland" itself...(and yes, I noticed the Weinstein PR machine was hard at work)

My non-theatre-savvy Mom made me chuckle when this was on. She was like, "It's Peter Pan, right?" And I say, "No, it's about the guy who wrote Peter Pan." And she replied, "Who are the characters? They're supposed to make outfits inspired by it, right?"

As an aside, I wasn't wild about most of the looks they made for this challenge.

I tuned in late so I missed the 3D comment, but that is...something! Wowza...

BTW, I meant/mean no disrespect to the young designing woman that made the aside comment on Project R. Her talent and her designs speak to her knowledge. (it's better to blame editing anyway)

I'm kind of shocked that they gave away the only good part of the show (the glitter wind tunnel/dress).

They only sort of spoiled it. It wasn't in context.

But anyway, I didn't realize that Harvey was a Runway producer. That explains it.

I meant spoiled as in showing it. The whole show was pretty blah except for that one visual.

It was actually in context, because when they showed the wind tunnel they had an interview with one of the contestants talking about someone who died.

They've done other bway tie ins. They were at wicked one year.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I actually thought the Broadway tie-in this time was handled better than most. I was horrified the year Mondo won for designing what seemed like an actual costume to be used in the Bway production of GODSPELL. (Am I remembering that correctly?)

At least here the point was to be inspired by the show in general and riff on the subtexts of .... "Imagination" ... or "Getting in touch with the evil inside yourself", rather than doing a couture outfit for JM Barrie's wife or Tinkerbell.

Sad that Mirlene was just safe (thought hers was a slam-dunk), but agreed with the win by a mile.

Oh, and with the one who was aufed. It's about damn time.

I thought the contestants' excitement was sweet. Is it really that hard to accept that someone may never have attended live theater before?

Mondo did win the GODSPELL challenge. The WICKED challenge had by far the worst results...and that was for All Stars.

Ironic how many of them were told their original idea was good, but the execution was just lacking.

What sums up Finding Neverland better than that? They are totally on message with the show itself!

^ Well I was more of a fan of FN than you, it seems. (At least the first time I saw it on Bway. The second time when I went with my eager husband in tow, he hated the thing and I was less impressed too.)

What's great is giving these designers who are supposed visual artists but who've never been to a Broadway show before a taste of what great visual artistry COULD be. The irony is that compared to quite a few other shows they could have picked, I thought this one had some very confused and obnoxious set design, and a really horrifyingly misbegotten bunch of so-called period clothes filling the stage. For truly great sets and costumes, if only they had taken the designers to see AN AMERICAN IN PARIS!

I remember Tim saying that he thought this was going to be an exciting runway show. Turned out he was the only one who thought so. I don't think the judges liked more than a couple of the designs. I didn't like any of them. What a hot mess!

As to that one comment, ever since this show expanded beyond a one-hour show, they have filled it with nonsense like that all the time. Last week, for the unconventional challenge, you knew someone would invariably say "I saw these dumpsters and was immediately like what the *** is going on?!" And someone did. I think they make them yammer on until they have enough silly comments from everyone to give them options in editing, aside from editing the show back down to an hour, where it belongs.
