Does anyone else remember and think it’s time for a revival of David Auburn’s play Proof? I saw the show on tour, and thought it was a brilliant and sophisticated play, that in its time was the talk of the town and highly lauded. It’s hard to believe the show premiere back in 2000, 22 years ago. I’m curious what others think about the feasibility of a Broadway revival. I think it’s a great star vehicle, and economically sound in the sense that it only requires 4 actors to do the show. I also found the Jake Gyllenhaal film to be quite winning as well.

I'd love to see Second Stage add it to their next season.

I doubt there will be a large-scale revival unless a big star decides she wants to play Catherine. It was definitely the play of the moment when it first arrived on Broadway, but I feel like it's lost some luster in the ensuing years. It's become a regional/community theater staple.
That’s :gasp: the end of act one. Never will forget

Has it aged well? It's been a long time since I've read it. Sometimes a "play of the moment" gets revived and is met with a shrug...THE HEIDI CHRONICLES, M. BUTTERFLY, TORCH SONG, and CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD all come to mind as recent examples.
I think it still holds up. What else has the author done? I know he wrote the book for Tick Tick Boom - which I'd love to see 2nd Stage revive off Broadway.
I actually just re-read this play a couple of weeks ago and it absolutely holds up.

She could play the older sister at this point. The play takes place on the main character's 25th birthday.

I saw the original production and remember liking it very much.
Today, I recall very little about it.
