Yes and... that jump cut to Bernadette Peters immediately had me in tears. I dunno why. I just immediately teared up.

Yeah, I kind of got breathless when that happened. It was obvious they were saving her for last but I thought she would just walk out and join them. I have been in her presence a few times and was in awe. She just takes my breath away.

I didn't see Old Friends so I haven't seen Bernadette perform in awhile. She is looking and sounding great at 78 years old!! 25+ years older than any of the others up there and it didn't seem that way at all.

I am making up for lost time in seeing Bernadette Peters. Saw her last year in Old Friends, then she turned up in the audience at one of Jonathan Groff’s last performances in Just in Time. The folks who put this together knew to highlight her.
It took me a bit to realize the rewritten lyrics - except for the great Paramount dig - were from one of Sondheim’s revues, so all but one of the words was his.

Loved it too. Thoughts: (1) Patrick Wilson needs to get rid of that mustache; (2) Patrick Wilson still has a great voice and has to hit the boards again soon; (3) BP sounded pretty good and looked great, except her eyes reflect a face lift that did her no favors. (4) I wish Encores would schedule Over Here, with BP and Patti Lupone in the Andrews sisters' roles, and someone funny in the Janie Sell Tony award winning role, maybe Laura Benanti! The score is pastiche but absolutely terrific, and there are some good roles for newcomers (Treat Williams, John Travolta, Phyllis Somerville and Anne Reinking were in supporting roles. BP and PL would only have to commit to X weeks, it would get enormous publicity and, I imagine, sell out very quickly, and it would be a lot of fun.
