"Well thanks Jane. As a high school teacher I deal with lots of CSTs (child study teams) as well and I forgot they do use the word retarded as well. With my cousin being such a big part of my life that's usually the first thing that comes to mind. "
"You are a high school teacher?"
Yes, he is Kirk Hellwig.

Posted: 1/25/08 at 12:03pmInitially I thought that they would extend and it still seems likely, but (this may be ignorant) could they get in trouble for false advertising and have to exchange whoever bought tickets for June 1st for the actual closing night? I really didn't think they were going to consistently say "JUNE 1st! JUNE 1st!" in ads, more "SUMMER 2008!" to leave some wiggle room, but apparently not.

I'm not taking any chances. I've read a lot of the posts here and I don't care if there are rumors that the show might extend.
I'm going to buy a ticket to see RENT for the last time as soon as airfares are a bit lower to NYC before June 1.
I would hate to assume they are going to extend and miss seeing the final performances of my favorite show!

Posted: 1/25/08 at 2:21pmEven if at this moment in time they are not planning to extend, there is nothing to stop them in Feb., Mar., Apr. or May from announcing an extension. I assume that if the house starts filling up regularly, they will indeed extend. However, if they only see moderate increases for the remainder of the run they might not.

I love all the maybes ---
Apparently the entire Broadway cast (including Idina) and Johnathan Gallagher Jr. will return for the final show AND it might/might not extend...
I wish they would be a bit more straight forward, but I'm sure they are being vague for a purpose.
I don't think that they can get in trouble - especialy if they mention something to the effect that their plans have changed, but I'm no expert. As for the extraordinary amount spent on ebay--- that's not their fault.

Why would they sell tickets past the date they are currently "saying" they will close? If anyone bought them, they would later need to be refunded if the show did not extend, and if they did sell these tickets, no one would take the closing on 6/1 seriously.
