There you go again with your blatant lies, Bobby.
A quick search of Powers' name on this board reveals that I said she was who I wanted to see cast. In fact, my exact words in the thread were, "Jenny Powers remains my ideal choice for Charlotte." Nowhere did I ever say she was cast, nor did I ever label myself an "insider."
It's funny how me being "wrong about most everything involving this show" translates to one thing I allegedly said that you're wrong about to begin with.
Girls, girls. You're both pretty!
"What was that?"
Anyone heard anything about a rumor that they've got Stokes for Frederik?
It's so hard to tell with you. A quick search would also find a million posts with you trying to pass off hearsay and general chatter that could be overheard at any gay bar, not that you're old enough to be in there but a skin tight "defying gravity" t does wonders these days, as "inside information". Simply refuting what I say won't erase the fact that nobody on this board takes anything seriously and that you pump people for information that they give you just to make you shut the hell up.
Go ahead and ramble all you want, Bobby, but you've been caught in yet another lie. Your blatantly incorrect accusations speak volumes for your reputation on this board. No quip is going to cover that up.
You say I've been "wrong on almost everything involved with this show," but you're only able to provide one instance of this actually happening when pressed for specifics. When it's proven that the one instance you gave was a lie, you resort to some sort of attempt at a personal slur to compensate for your complete lack of evidence to substantiate your attacks.
It's pretty clear who the one peddling false information is here, and it certainly isn't me.
Post the cast list for Night Music if you know everything.

Brian Stokes Mitchell is not Frederik, as he just released a slew of upcoming, multi-city concert dates that are throughout the rehearsal and preview period of Night Music. Also, his concert dates extend well into Dec..and with Night Music opening on the 11th, it would be impossible for him to do both.
Davie is indeed Charlotte.
Stokes would be perfection.
so would gum.
Where did I ever claim to know everything? You're the one trying to portray me as some sort of self-proclaimed insider.
There are plenty of other posters who have gone to bat much more prevalently with their "information" on this issue than I have.
You keep ignoring the fact that you've been proven to be lying in your accusations against me yet again. It's funny that that's the one thing you continuously choose not to acknowledge.

well, somethingwicked, you did insist that Waddingham was going to be Desirée...
and, givesmevoice: LOL! Gum, would indeed, be perfection.
Where did I ever say anything of the sort, husk_charmer?
I said (once) that the producers were petitioning to Equity to try and bring Waddingham here, which they did unsuccessfully. At the same time, I said they had an American actress in mind who was an alternate choice in the event their request for an exchange was denied, which they did.
The person in question was ultimately rejected by Angela Lansbury due to her lack of celebrity, which led to them seeking a name ala Catherine Zeta-Jones (as corroborated by Michael Reidel.)
Never did I "insist" Waddingham was cast. In fact, I went as far as to say that Ben Brantley's assertion that the show was being "re-cast from top to bottom" in his Times review was probably a good indication Waddingham wouldn't be coming here.

This is kind of random and I don't mean to thread jack, but if people think a bittersweet romantic comedy like Night Music needs big names to sell it, what about Ragtime? That's a lot heavier show and will have no one of note in it. Will that have a hard time finding an audience?
Re: Night Music, if they feel they have to go with a movie star for Desiree, at least they are going with a triple threat who is no stranger to the theater (that is, if the CZJ rumors are true). She knows what she's getting into, and I'm sure she'll dedicate herself to it 100%. I'm definitely curious to see what she does with the role. She will undoubtedly have the required stage presence.
And she'll definitely sell tickets!
Now, I do love Lansbury and I think it's swell that she'll be Mme. Armfeldt, but my IDEAL casting choice would have been Julie Andrews. Whew!

i was TOLD by an agent that tovah was "literally signed" for charlotte....maybe i misunderstood. maybe she was signed for someone else or i was told a pack of lies. either is very possible.
Why is Lansbury rejecting actresses based on their celebrity status? I'm finding that hard to believe.
I think people are making it sound more than it is. Lansbury just didn't want to be the only star. Therefore, she wanted a Zeta-Jones, not a Mazzie.
It makes complete sense. And it is very true. She didn't want the entire production on her shoulders.
As previously stated, Cats, Lansbury most likely wanted another celebrity on the show so that the production didn't rely entirely on her. If she were to miss a show (and that'll be the day, right?) it would give the entire audience the opportunity to refund their tickets. If she were the only star, then odds are a great deal of theatregoers would do just that. If there was another celebrity attached, however, then Lansbury won't have to worry about that. Not to mention, if she's the only star attached, it gives the wrong impression to audiences new to A Little Night Music, that Lansbury is the lead role.
As others have said, CATSNYrevival, Lansbury didn't want to have to carry the weight of the show on her shoulders in a featured role.
Well, the rumor I heard stated those concerts (of Stokes') are being canceled. Again, just rumors, but it does sound like a credible one.
There's a fixed date for opening? December 11th? I'm quite sure I missed something somewhere, but where was this stated?
Stokes would be perfection.
so would gum..
HIGH FIVE.
Also, I could deal with Stokes. Definitely.
Unless they're going for a color blind effect now, Stokes and Herdlicka (cast as Henrik) look NOTHING alike. And for a while Nunn was very strict on having Swedish looking actors, but maybe that changed after Zeta-Jones?

I don't think it's impossible, but I have a hard time believing that, too. I know why she'd say it, I just have a hard time imagining her saying it.
