The great lady was 91
Glorious talent sadly always in Julie Andrews’ shadow (she was Andrews’ replacement in Broadway’s MY FAIR LADY). Endless comparisons throughout the 60s so her career never exploded like it should have. Vocally they are indeed hard to decipher as they both sounded alike.
She was wonderful in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. There's a clip on YouTube of her singing "Send In The Clowns." She shall me missed.

Sally Ann Howes didn't stand in the shadow of anyone. She was a beloved star in her own right, without need for comparisons. I miss her already.

Never heard that before. Can understand why they'd want her and why the producers would be thinking of reuniting her with Dick Van Dyke. But, geez, Truly Scrumptious is a decidedly secondary role. I'm surprised they thought she'd consider it.
My God, though, did Sally Ann Howes sung the hell out of that role.
