Can I cast something around 3,450,768 votes for RAGTIME?
Because that is how enthusiastically I am voting for it. Definitely a masterpiece. Arguably the best of the decade, as others have said.
ETA: It losing the Best Musical Tony to THE LION KING is one of the worst atrocities in the history of all entertainment awards shows. If it won Best Score and Best Book, how is it not also the Best Musical?

If it won Best Score and Best Book, how is it not also the Best Musical?
My understanding is that the Best Musical Tony is intended to honor both the raw materials of a show (book, score) and the shaping of those raw materials into a performance (direction, choreography, design, actors). Please correct me if I'm mistaken about this.
While Ragtime did win Best Book and Best Score, The Lion King did win for direction and choreography, and it swept the design awards.
I'm not writing this to defend the choice, but to show that it isn't a logical impossibility given Ragtime's superior book and score.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
