From Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller at the Paley Fest panel:
Question asked: WILL RAUL ESPARZA BE BACK AS OLIVE’S LOVE INTEREST?
BF: "We love him and his relationship with Kristin’s character. It would be a crime not to (have them sing together)."
Yay their going to SING! It's going to be awesome:) Wish we didn't have to wait so long for the show to come back.
And just a little tidbit from Kristin and Ellen Greene:
KRISTIN CHENOWETH & ELLEN GREENE TALK ABOUT BROADWAY AND SINGING ON THE SHOW:
KC: What’s so great is the way the singing is incorporated into an episode, especially the second one where I sing “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and how it was integrated into the scene. In theater, you sing because you can’t talk anymore. I’m not going to lie, I was nervous. I didn’t want the singing to come out of nowhere. But it felt very real. If you stay in a real spot, you can’t go wrong.
EG: Everyone knows I have stage fright, but we really are like a small family. I love that they gave me the opportunity to sing. When you can’t speak, you sing. And when you can’t sing, you dance. For me, it’s about giving hope to myself and to the people who need it.

I can't believe we have to wait til fall to get new episodes!!!
Just my luck I got into it on the last episode before the strike

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

Posted: 3/17/08 at 10:40pmThe worst part of the writers strike was cutting this show's first season so short, it was my favroite thing about last fall. Can't wait for it to start back up.

My favorite thing this past fall was CHUCK, but PUSHING DAISIES was my next favorite thing.
Fall? What the hell? Did they really show all the remaining episodes?

PUSHING DAISIES episodes take too long to produce and so when the WGA strike ran for longer than most people expected it to, it became pretty clear to everyone involved that they wouldn't have the chance to finish up the season like they expected to. Fortunately though, they will be coming back for a full second season.
It really was the best show to premiere last fall, and one of the best TV shows there is. It's so magical, innovative, and romantic, it's like nothing I have ever seen on TV before.
I'm glad to hear Esparza's coming back, he does make such a cute couple with Chenoweth's character. What duet would you guys want them to sing together?

Don't hate on me for saying this, but "Til There Was You" from The Music Man would be a good fit for them.
I'm just glad that this is indeed happening, and we can expect some more Fredo/Olive love.

Pushing Daisies was not just my favourite new show this season, it quickly became my favourite show, period. I was not happy when I found out it wouldn't be back until fall (though very happy it will BE back, I kept reading rumours it wouldn't be). And there are so many great performers who have been on the show, and hopefully more to come.
Has anyone heard if this first season will be released on DVD?

Yup. As with ALL of ABC TV's series, PUSHING DAISIES will be coming to us on DVD (hopefully, a Blu-ray release will come our way as well -- it HAS to be savored in true high definition).
No date has been announced yet, but it'll most likely be sometime this summer.

Posted: 3/18/08 at 11:34amThis is terribly corny, I know, but I think they should sing Make Believe from Show Boat.

Posted: 3/18/08 at 11:40amSux that so many shows from this past season will have such piddly, tiny box sets coming out this fall.

Posted: 3/18/08 at 11:50amThanks, good to know there will be a DVD soon. I wasn't sure if they might hold off and release seasons one and two together.
