It's all a matter of personal opinion and preference, isn't it? I'm a huge Fantasia fan, and would love to see her be a part of this film. I agree, I won't believe it til an announcement has been made...but my fingers are crossed.

Excuse me, but god blesses everyone, just not in the same way. I am not ashamed to talk about him because I know where my blessings come from. and yes, he did have time to bless all his children, including you.
I'm glad somebody made a more postive post about her possible casting.
Fantasia has been accepted by the music industry moreso than any other AI singer. She's gotten great reviews for her CD and concert. Even that NY Times article dogging AI singing on broadway championed Fantasia.
Patti Labelle invited Fantasia to sing with her and called her "Little Patti."
Aretha Franklin is dueting with Fantasia on a song and calls Fantasia her "daughter."
I could go on and on, but what else could a soul singer ask for?
I don't like Fantasia at all.
She sounds like a munchkin.
But she does have great stage presence.
Except, all she does is spin.
It makes me dizzy.
It's like a hallucination. Seriously! Dizzyness and munchkins....
^ LOL. So true.
TheTruth - do you ever talk about Broadway on here?

Aww, poor Kelly. I guess her Grammy Award nomination and MTV Award nominations weren't a measure of respect from the industry. She'd best go into hiding now and take her TRL record and wll-reviewed, multi-platinum CDs with her. Darn, I thought it was all working out for her too.
ljay- Which role is Vivian Green aiming for? I would love to see her; I think she has a terrific voice and knows more or less what to do with it. Fantasia? Meh.

It's funny how you don't like Fantasia, but you continue to listen to her music and watch her performances. sounds to me like you can't get enough of her either you just don't want to admit the young lady is just that talented. I don't know how you get your blessings with so much hatred over something you can't even control. Fantasia has never done anything to you to make you not like her. If you don't like the way she sound don't listen because I really don't think she will stop performing because you don't like her.
Umm.....me?
I forget where I said I listen to her?
AI was enough torture.
ljay, This discussion is about broadway. Lay off the Hypnotic. Meanwhile, why don't you go back and re-read every one of my posts so you can get a better idea of what I post about since you're so concerned.
Jomarch, I can't believe you're actually bringing up TRL. Kelly is in league with Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson, and the Backstreet Boys. Big Whoop. But let me clarify a bit. I'm talking about each idols' reign as AI. Kelly's on her second CD so ofcourse she's going to have sold more records. I suspect Fantasia will be recieving more than one Grammy nom this year...I'm not even trying to turn this into a Kelly vs Fantasia debate, but Kelly is doing so well because she's filling a void in the industry. There's really nobody for her to compete with. Same with Clay. Fantasia, has to compete with all the "legit" R&B artists (John Legend, Faith Evans, etc ) and the little R&B poptarts (Amerie, Ciara, Brooke Valentine, etc) Fantasia is certainly holding her own. We all know her popularity is not about looks.
"Jomarch, I'm not even trying to turn this into a Kelly vs Fantasia debate"
You compared her to other Idols. What did you expect?
"but Kelly is doing so well because she's filling a void in the industry. There's really nobody for her to compete with."
Most ridiculous statement I've heard in a long while. Unlike Fantasia who is primarily on the R&B charts, Kelly has been competing with the big guns on the mainstream charts. Her album has remained in the top 15 for almost 8 months now and it continued to stick around while "nobodies" like Springsteen and Madonna have had albums come and go. For the past two months, she has traded positions on the video and Billboard charts with her contemporaries, "nobodies" Mariah Carey and Gwen Stefani. She has no one to compete with? You're in denial. Hey, I don't even dislike Fantasia but when her fans begin invading our board spouting BS, I'll call them on it.

i'm sure she's singing while she's spinning.
Jomarch, my comment was to show how excellent Fantasia is. You were singling out Kelly for some reason. That's why I said I didn't want to turn this into a Kelly vs Fantasia debate. You're taking my comment in a totally diffrent direction. You must be a Kelly "stan."
All these women have CD's out so, yes they are competing in that sense. But that goes without saying and you can add every artist who has a CD out right now to that list. My statement was in refrence to GENRE.
Mariah is R&B. Despite her previous attempts at white-washing, she has now chosen a more urban sound. Check out her first 2 singles. "It's Like That" is straight up Hip-Hop/R&B. We belong together is R&B. So, actually she's one of Fantasia's contemporaries. So thanks for helping me to further prove my point. Gwen is doing dance music. Her current single "Holla Back Girl" utilizes the talents of Hip-hop/R&B producers The Neptunes. The song has a marching drum beat mixed in with hip-hop which is similar to "It's All Good" from Fantasia's CD that has that same beat.
Now, please explain to me why Mariah, Kelly, and Gwen Stefani are in competition with each other?
Thenadier, you got nerve to have a pic of Tonya as your avatar and talk about Fantasia's singing?

There is no way I could listen to an entire CD of Fantasia. I thought both Jennifer and LaToya were much more talented than Fantasia was.

Whatever she's doing, you're still watching and listening and that's a good thing whether you like her or not. I know you don't want to miss out on a good thing now do u.
"Thenadier, you got nerve to have a pic of Tonya as your avatar and talk about Fantasia's singing?"
I had no idea Tonya and Fantasia are the same person....

Are you refering to me? Because if you are... I would last about 1 minute through Fantasia when she was in AI. And no, I don't listen to her anymore, and I stopped watching the show after the good singers left... so I guess I'm not "watching and listening", but then again, I'm not really missing anything either.
We are NOT watching Fantasia.
The last time I saw her was the finale of AI.
I have no interest in seeing or hearing her again.
I am sure she is a nice person. But she isn't famous for being nice.

I'll explain one last time because I think you're letting your emotion cloud your reading abilities. Gwen, Kelly and Mariah all in competition with each other because they're dominating THE mainstream Billboard chart, Sweetie. The head honcho. The big cheese. Though Gwen, Kelly and Mariah may be faring well on the smaller niche charts, they hardly need to showcase it in ther bios when they've already conquered the big chart. It'd be like Jamie Foxx listing his Blockbuster movie award on his bio before he listed his Oscar. LOL It's fine for the Fantasias of the world to be proud of their success on their niche charts, but you'd bet your bottom dollar that her handlers would rather she'd made a dent on the big chart with the big girls. Later.

Kelly is a more respected of an artist than Fantasia is. She is not in a league with Britney Spears and The Backstreet Boys...her talent is much more legitmate and respected. The end.
Anyway, I do love the idea of Fantaisa as Lorell. I think she'd be perfect, and I hope the part is hers and she blows away anyone who doubted her. She is a great talent.
Thenardier, I'm talking about you criticizing voices.
Jomarch, I don't know why you keep explaining something that has nothing to do with my initial posting on the subject. My comparison had to do with genres and how R&B/hip-hop artists are spliting the same audience because it's the most popular style of music. I was saying that Kelly isn't really spliting an audience with anyone. Don't get me wrong, the girl is talented, but she shines more because of lack of comepetition.
You named Mariah and Gwen as her peers who are both a bit older than her (and in completely diffrent genres) But I can name several of Fantasia's who are right in her age group.
I could go on and on, but you seem to be stuck on not understanding what I'm telling you, so I'm going to move forward, Sweetie.
