Rehearsal Injury Delays Christopher Sieber's Bow in Broadway's Matilda The Musical — Page 2

No, his last day is May 4th. He made that announcement too. Unless Sean (the other Trunch understudy) is stepping in randomly, I believe it is safe to assume Sieber is beginning. Ben is wonderful about keeping us updated, so if he doesn't tweet anything during the day tomorrow, I would believe Chris is starting. ((Also, Ben has been listed as the Understudy, as opposed to leading, for the past week and a half, so his contract has already changed. (I believe that's what that means?)))

According to his Facebook, Sieber's first performance will be tonight.

It wasn't sudden. This was supposed to be Ben's last week as Trunch, at least planned for several days. Sieber does start tonight.

I was there as well and second the previous poster. His line readings were hilarious -- he is very dead pan in the role, which I enjoyed. He has a lovely voice as well, when he sustains longer notes especially. I had only seen Bertie previously but actually preferred Chris.

One of the things about Chris IMO was that he has this "star presence" on stage. While Bertie was big, Chris is even bigger/taller..and he just dominated the stage when he was on.

I don't think a lot of people in the audience knew who he was ..or that it was his first performance (Fri- the one I saw). I was expecting applause when he showed up for the first time just for being there... and he didn't get it. But he quickly got everyone's attention and the audience appreciation grew as the show progressed.

I noticed that when he swung Amanda (who wasn't Beatrice that night), it was a little lower swing and maybe slower...watching out for the recovering injury perhaps.
