This. Capturing that footage can be great for documentaries or features down the line to show the evolution from the rehearsal room to the stage, but sometimes the studio footage looks flat and lifeless, especially because of the lighting.

Filming it another space (like Fantasticks did) at least makes things look a little more polished.

For years, the advice was that recording studio footage was not a helpful way to promote a Broadway show, but now everyone seems to be doing that so maybe the thinking has shifted.

You write as if titling it "studio rehearsal" makes any difference to titling it "Press Performance", as Second Stage did.

Contrary to your dim-witted assertion above, there's no big difference between the two.

FTR, I still believe that Second Stage posted that video to create buzz before the first previews begin and that's exactly what's happened here, so... Well done, Second Stage - mission accomplished.
